In hot water – headmistress who ordered ‘junk food’ eaten

PARENTS and students of SJK (T) St Leonard in Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan, held a protest demanding that the headmistress be transferred out after she was said to have ordered a pupil to eat food that had been thrown into a rubbish bin, Tamil dailies reported.

An 11-year-old pupil apparently threw away half of his unfinished meal into a bin.

The headmistress, who saw this, ordered the pupil to get the food back and finish it.

A teacher, who helped the boy to retrieve the food, said the headmistress insisted that the pupil finish the food.

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) has lodged a report over the incident.

On Monday, association members gathered at the school, demanding immediate action against the school head.

The association also raised the matter with officials from the state Education Department.

‘No encroachment into Tamil school’

NS Education Dept also defends the school headmistress over accusation of abusing a school boy

KUALA LUMPUR: The Negeri Sembilan Education Department has denied allegations that SJKC St Leonard encroached into land meant for SJKT St Leonard.

“There is no issue of SJKC St Leonard encroaching into the land meant for SJKT St Leonard. This matter was explained by Sime Darby itself in its capacity as the landowner in a meeting with the parents and the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) on Saturday at the school,” Negeri Sembilan Education Department director Rusni Ab Jalil told Berita Daily.

During the same press conference, Reverend T Paul Jegatheesan claimed a student, Lee Laven, was forced to eat food from the rubbish bin.

Lee suffered from stomach ache and vomiting, which led to Paul filing a police report against the school.

Rusni also denied allegations that the SJKT St Leonard headmistress was involved in forcing a student to eat food that was thrown into rubbish bin.

“Based on the probe conducted and eye-witness accounts, the headmistress did not force the student to eat food that was thrown into the rubbish bin,” she said.

Students to stay away until HM is transferred out

Parents of students in SJKT St Leonard, Port Dickson have restrained their children from the school as they are not happy with several issues plaguing it.

KUALA LUMPUR: Parents of SJKT St Leonard Estate in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan have decided against sending their children to the school in protest against the headmistress and encroachment by a neighbouring Chinese vernacular school.

The restrain against their children would only end after the school headmistress is transferred out along with a halt on building works which is encroaching the Tamil school land.

“They have however organised their own private classes for all the students during normal school hours at a private location,” said Hindraf chairman P Waythamoorthy in a statement.

This is among the four resolutions undertaken by the parents who also held a two hour protest yesterday.

The other resolutions that was passed are authorising Hindraf to represent the parents’ interest to the government as they have lost faith in the school headmistress.

The parents also want to obtain legal redress to prevent further encroachment and building works by the Chinese school.

The last resolution enforced their loss of faith in the administration of the headmistress. They want the Education Ministry to remove the headmistress from the school.

Hindraf: Chinese school encroaching onto Tamil school land

July 28, 2016

According to land documents given to the NGO, there’s a clear boundary between the Tamil and Chinese schools, a “straight line divide” of one acre for each school.

KUALA LUMPUR: Hindraf Makkal Sakthi wants the Education Minister to immediately intervene and place a stop work order on SJK(C) Ladang St. Leonard, a Chinese school in Port Dickson, which has encroached onto land which the neighbouring Tamil school owns.

“Immediate intervention is necessary to halt building works,” said Hindraf Chairman P Waythamoorthy.

“There’s suspicion that something is amiss in this whole saga.

Strangely, he alleged, the headmistress of the Tamil school was not taking any interest in the encroachment.

“All complaints to her have fallen on deaf ears.”

The Negeri Sembilan State MIC Exco, approached by the PIBG (Parent- Teacher Association), brushed aside the unlawful encroachment, fumed Waytha. “They had no valid reasons to ignore the complaint.”

He added that his NGO would be writing to the Negeri Sembilan MCA, Gerakan and DAP to assist in resolving the issue.
