A virtual 10-year-old girl has busted a Brisbane sex offender in the act

A REGISTERED sex offender and serial flasher from Brisbane is believed to be the first child sex predator caught by an undercover online sting targeting pedophiles with a virtual fake child nicknamed Sweetie.

The program sees charity workers pose as Sweetie — the computer-generated animation of a 10-year-old Filipina girl. They target pedophiles, who would ask Sweetie to perform sex acts in from of a webcam for cash.

Set up by Dutch Children’s rights group Terre des Hommes Netherlands, Sweetie managed to lure more than 1000 adults around the world, including 46 Australians, providing their details to Interpol.

The first to have been convicted in the online sex tourism sting is a Brisbane man, registered sex offender Scott Robert Hansen.

Australian Federal Police officers executed a search of Hansen’s home in February after he was referred to police by Terre des Hommes following a web chat with “Sweetie” in which Hansen “sat naked and masturbated with erect penis”, a spokesman for Terre des Hommes told news.com.au.

The 37-year-old is a known serial-flasher who was first convicted for wilful exposure in 1995 for repeatedly flashing young girls on a school bus by standing naked in front windows outside.

Three from Malaysia among paedophiles

PETALING JAYA: Dutch activists recently tracked down 1,000 paedophiles worldwide who engaged in webcam child sex tourism over a two-month period. Of this number, three are Malaysians.

Using a computer-generated virtual child, the Netherlands-based Terre des Hommes was able to lure these 1,000 into the open, and track them using publicly-available tools such as Google and Facebook.

Confirming the information, a Terre des Hommes spokesman said: “Three of them are from Malaysia. Their names were handed over to Interpol. We hope Interpol will exchange the information with the various countries.”

The spokesman declined to provide any details on the three, adding that the organisaton did not want to frame a specific profile of these paedophiles. It seemed, however, that the 1,000 came from all walks of life.

“You have people working as teachers, with government agencies…There are fathers, students, old and young,” the spokesman said.

Australian sex predators caught in ‘Sweetie’ sting

DETAILS of dozens of would-be Australian sex predators have been provided to Interpol by a Dutch children’s rights group, which offered online sex with a computer-generated image of a virtual 10-year-old Filipina girl named Sweetie.

Among that number are 46 Australians, whose details are in the hands of international authorities.

Using that information, researchers identified the adults and passed the information to police.

“They come from all over the world – from America, Europe but also from countries like India, Japan, Korea,” said Hans Guyt, the director of campaigns at Terre des Hommes Netherlands.

More than 50 Canadians were also identified, as well as 254 in the United States, 110 in Britain and 44 in Germany

New Zealand police say they have yet to receive information regarding four New Zealanders reportedly caught in an international sting offering to pay a 10-year-old girl for an online sex show.

Dutch children’s rights organisation Terre des Hommes has identified 1000 adults who were willing to pay children in developing countries to perform sexual acts in front of a webcam.

With the help of a computer-generated 10-year-old Filipino girl named Sweetie, the researchers identified adults from more than 65 countries, the group’s website said.

The video footage of the child predators was handed over to Interpol yesterday.

The fake underage Filipina was designed to lure in child molesters. ‘The predator won’t come forward. The victim won’t come forward,’ Terre des Hommes activist Hans Guyt says. ‘This requires a new way of policing.’

Sweetie was created by rights group Terre des Hommes, which says: “Our worst-case scenario is that the same will happen with this phenomenon as with child pornography, which is now a multi-billion industry in the hands of criminal gangs.”

ONLINE SEX: ‘Virtual’ 10-yr-old Filipina girl catches 1,000 paedophiles

THE HAGUE – A Dutch rights group said Monday it had identified over 1,000 paedophiles around the world by offering online sex with a computer-generated 10-year-old Filipina girl called Sweetie.

Terre des Hommes Netherlands has now handed over to police the identities of over 1,000 adults who were willing to pay children in developing countries for online sex, it said.

“They were ready to pay Sweetie for sexual acts in front of her webcam,” the rights group’s head Albert Jaap van Santbrink told journalists in The Hague.

The group said it wanted to raise the alarm about a largely unknown but quickly spreading new form of child exploitation that has tens of thousands of victims in the Philippines alone, known as webcam child sex tourism.

Sweetie was created by the child rights group and deployed in Internet chat rooms from a remote building in Amsterdam.

Within a 10-week period, over 20,000 predators approached Sweetie, asking for webcam sex performances. While they were chatting with the “girl”, researchers gathered information about her customers through social media.

Using this information, researchers identified the abusers and passed the information on to police.

“The biggest problem is that the police don’t take action until child victims file reports, but children almost never report these crimes,” said head of campaigns Hans Guyt.
