Stop gov’t contracts for Bersih-linked firms, urges FT Umno Youth
Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii has urged the government to revoke contracts granted to private companies that are involved with electoral reform group Bersih.
Razlan said he was in possession of evidence that showed links between Bersih and several companies that have dealings with the government and have received contracts.
Bersih is planning to topple the government, he claimed, and firms that benefit from the government’s good management have a duty to safeguard national interests.
“Companies that rely on the government but are involved in Bersih should have their contracts terminated immediately,” said Razlan in a statement yesterday.
“If they are prepared to join the demonstration, then they should be prepared to have their contracts terminated,” he added, referring to Bersih’s Nov 19 rally to demand Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s resignation.
“This is about defending the democratic system and protecting the rights of the majority which elected a legitimate government.”
Razlan pledged that Federal Territories Umno Youth would gather information on all private companies that are involved in Bersih.
“Bersih participants must be prepared to face the repercussions of their actions.
“The government does not need to be lenient on those that openly want to overthrow the government of the day,” he said.
