Idris: My ‘kill Malays’ remarks designed to boost patriotism
Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron said his “US wants to kill Malays” remarks were designed to stoke the fires of patriotism among citizens of the country.
However, he added that his remarks about the motivation behind the US Department of Justice (DOJ) civil filing to seize assets linked to 1MDB, have been misunderstood by certain parties, reports Malay daily Berita Harian.
He said that his remarks were designed to boost patriotism, specifically to Umno members he was addressing.
“Understand my meaning (when I said that the US seeks to kill Malays) – that was to stoke the patriotic spirit amongst Umno members so that we can administer our own country without outside intervention,” he said after opening Surau At-Thoiyyibah at Taman Rembia Perkasa in Alor Gajah, Malacca, today.
He was commenting on brickbats thrown at him for saying that the US is using the DOJ filing in order to topple Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, and also targeting to kill the Malays just as it had with the Iraqis.

‘Forget about foreign powers, M’sia’s ruin will come from within’
Forget about tales of foreign powers seeking to destroy Malaysia – our ruin will come from within, said a Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) lawmaker.
Kuala Terengganu MP Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad said those whom the public trust will be the country’s downfall, not invaders from beyond the borders.
“Actually, at the moment there are no foreign powers who are interested or need to attack us because we are doing a good job of destroying ourselves.
“Malaysia’s destruction – if it happens – will not be because of foreign powers,” said Raja Kamarul Bahrin in a statement.
“Malaysia will be destroyed by those selected and entrusted by the rakyat to administer the nation, and the religious leaders who chose to keep silent (about wrongdoings) even though they have knowledge and influence.”
He was commenting on Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron’s claim that the US is coming to ‘kill the Malays’ just as it had with the Iraqis – a statement which Raja Kamarul Bahrin said had as much veracity as local comedy skit Raja Lawak Mega.

MP: If CM’s ‘US wants to kill Malays’ claim true, shouldn’t we declare war?
An opposition lawmaker has taken Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron to task for claiming the United States is planning to “kill” the Malays after doing the same with Iraqis in the past.
Lim Lip Eng said if the allegation is true, then Putrajaya should send back the US ambassador to Malaysia and declare war on the superpower.
The DAP MP demanded that Idris retract his statement and apologise for embarrassing Malaysia.
He also questioned the silence of cabinet ministers with regard to this allegation.
“Does this mean BN and the entire cabinet agree that US is planning to eliminate the Malays using its Department of Justice (DOJ)?” he asked in a media statement.
On the contrary, Lim said Malaysia should be grateful to the US which is attempting to return the colossal amount of money allegedly misappropriated from 1MDB.

Malacca CM: After killing Iraqis, US now coming after Malays
Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron claimed the US Department of Justice’s (DOJ) court filings related to the 1MDB scandal is part of a political ploy to unseat the Malays.
He claimed the US authorities had not approached 1MDB, but out of the blue came its explosive allegations.
Idris questioned the DOJ’s credibility in doing so, citing the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 and the subsequent US occupation of the state on grounds that then Iraqi president Saddam Hussein allegedly possessed weapons of mass destruction.
“We want to tell the Americans that this is Southeast Asia, this is Malaysia.
“Our country is our responsibility. What credibility does the Department of Justice have?
“What did they (the US) say on the unilateral attack on Iraq? (They claimed ) there are chemical weapons of mass destruction.
“Even after Saddam Hussein’s death, to this day not a single chemical weapon was found.
“You cheated the Iraqis, you killed the Iraqis, and now you want to kill the Malays in Malaysia.
