Ipoh bank evacuated after hoax bomb threat

IPOH: About 80 staff from an investment bank at Jalan Seenivasagam here had to vacate the outlet when an unidentified man made a hoax bomb call at noon today.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Sum Chang Keong said the bank alerted police at 12.06pm after l receiving the call about 20 minutes earlier.

He said the caller claimed that he would place an explosive inside the bank.

However, police confirmed that the threat was a hoax when they were unable to find such an object, despite the help of the bomb disposal unit and K9 units.
