Three men including Datuk Seri arrested for illegal logging to be charged soon

KEMAMAN: Three men including a ‘Datuk Seri’ who were arrested for their role in illegal logging in a raid near the Cerul forest reserve on Tuesday, gave their statements to the Forestry Department’s investigators yesterday.

State Forestry Department director Datuk Ahmad Fadzil Abdul Majid said the trio were assisting the Department’s investigators in completing the investigation paper (IP) on the case.

Fadzil said that once the IP is completed, it will be handed over to the deputy public prosecutor for further action.

“The trio gave their first statements to the police at the Chukai police station soon after they were arrested on Tuesday,” he said today.
.
He said the trio are expected to be charged in court soon under Section 15 of the National Forestry Act 1984 for logging and extracting forest resources without permits.
