BATU GAJAH: Electric Train Service (ETS) passengers who were left stranded across Perak by yesterday’s cargo train derailment here are displeased with KTM Bhd’s management, which failed to provide shuttles for them to be transported to Ipoh or Kampar stations.
Many passengers are still stranded at KTM stations – one day after the incident – with no indication as to when the promised shuttles will appear.
Checks at the Batu Gajah KTM station today showed that many frustrated passengers were still waiting for coaches, with none to be seen.

Tempers flare as thousands of commuters stranded after train derailment

IPOH: Stranded commuters at the Kampar and Ipoh KTM stations here are getting restless as works to remove derailed carriages at Kampung Bakap, Batu Gajah, are still ongoing.

Trader Nurhayati Jamil, 42, from Batu Gajah, who was met at the Kampar KTM station, said she was on her way to a relative’s house in Kuala Lumpur.

“I wanted to bring my two children there for the weekend. We were here at 10.30am and were not told about the incident. We were supposed to board the ETS train at 11am. By then, the crowd had built up and some of them were frustrated and asking for a refund. There was no electricity and we were later informed by staff at the counter about the incident.
