Lawyer lists three possible criminal charges against Umno Youth vice-chief
Lawyer and DAP member Zulhazmi Sharriff said three criminal charges can be brought against Umno Youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun for his police report alleging that three high-ranking former public figures conspired to topple Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
Zulhazmi lodged a police report against Khairul Azwan at the Dang Wangi police headquarters this morning, accompanied by Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng and former Selangor state executive councillor Ronnie Liu Tan Khiew.
In his report, Zulhazmi urged police to investigate Khairul Azwan under Sections 182, 194 and 499 of the Penal Code and the Sedition Act.
Section 182 deals with providing false information with intent to cause a public servant to use his powers to cause injury to another person.
Section 194 deals with fabricating false evidence to procure a conviction of a capital offence.
Section 499 deals with criminal defamation.

Perhaps Khairul has ‘secrets’ on ‘tan sri trio’, says Umno Youth leader
Police should question Umno Youth vice chief Khairul Azwan Harun again to find out what evidence he has against the “tan sri trio”, said an Umno Youth leader.
Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Razlan Rafii was commenting on Khairul Azwan denying that his police report alleging a conspiracy against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak was based on hearsay.
“Police have to call Khairul Azwan back, ask him ‘why did you say it’s not an assumption?’
“Maybe he can’t share the evidence with just anyone, maybe Khairul Azwan obtained some secrets.
“Call him back and ask him,” Razlan told Malaysiakini during an interview at the news portal’s office in Petaling Jaya yesterday.

Perak Amanah Youth today lodged a police report against Umno Youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun over his allegedly false report on a conspiracy against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
The report was lodged by Perak Amanah Youth secretary Safarizal Saleh at the Ipoh district station this morning.
Perak Amanah Youth in its report urged the police to investigate Khairul Azwan over his claims against former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail, former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Abu Kassim Mohamed and former Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz.
Khairul Azwan had said the three were involved in a plot to topple Najib and the government.
In a statement, Perak Amanah Youth acting deputy chief Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim reiterated the view that Khairul Azwan could be investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code for making a false police report.
“We also believe that the police report and subsequent statements by Khairul Azwan on the alleged plot to topple the prime minister is tantamount to criminal defamation under Section 499 of the Penal Code,” he said.

Umno Youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun considers his police report alleging a high-level conspiracy against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to be a success.
Though the police decided against launching an investigation, Khairul said he is“proud” the report managed to foil an “attempt” to topple the prime minister.
Pressed by reporters, the Umno Youth leader refused to elaborate on the alleged plot.

‘No action against Umno Youth number two shows IGP’s double standards’
PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli has accused inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar of practising double standards.
This is after Khalid said earlier today that no action will be taken against Umno Youth leader Khairul Azwan Harun for lodging a police report “based on assumptions”.
Rafizi, the Pandan MP, contrasted this with the swift action taken against him for pursuing issues of public interest, such as the financial management of Tabung Haji and the Armed Forces Fund (LTAT).

SHAH ALAM: Police are not pursuing the investigation into a report by Umno Youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun about a conspiracy against the prime minister by three top Malaysian officials involved in investigating 1MDB.
Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said Tuesday that after recording a statement from Khairul Azwan, police concluded that his report was based solely on assumptions.
“He couldn’t furnish us with any proof to this allegation, thus we do not wish to continue investigating this case.
“He might have heard or read the ‘news’ elsewhere, which prompted him to file a report.
“But if you can’t provide evidence to an allegation, do not simply lodge a report as it is a waste of our resources,” The Star reported Khalid as saying at a Hari Raya Puasa open house at the Selangor police contingent headquarters.
Malay Mail Online quoted Khalid as saying police would not record statements from the three persons mentioned in Khairul’s report.
“We don’t want to waste our time calling people when there are no real good grounds to do so,” he added.
