Probe under way on cops who allegedly beat up two students
Police have opened up investigation papers on allegations that their personnel had roughed up two teenagers who were arrested following a fight between two schools, says Selangor Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief deputy commissioner Mohd Adnan Abdullah.
He said the investigation had been classified under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
“Hence, we will conduct the investigation fairly and transparently. We urge all parties to give their full cooperation and not to speculate on this case,” Adnan said in a statement posted on Facebook.
He said that on July 27, police received information that a group of students from two schools in Klang were involved in a fight in front of a school.
Subsequently, on July 29 and 30, police from the Klang south district police station arrested 11 boys.
“Nine of them were charged and then let off on police bail. They were released after police classified the case under Section 147 (of the Penal Code) for rioting,” he said.
He added that it was after all of them were released that police received reports from the two families alleging their children were assaulted.
Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar assured that the matter was being investigated and that the four police officers allegedly involved in assaulting the two students could be suspended.

Alleged beating of two teenagers by cops will be probed, says IGP
Kow Gah Chie
The alleged beating of two teenagers by police officers in Klang will be investigated, inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said today.
“As usual, we will investigate,” he said when met in Shah Alam.
Khalid added that the four police officers highlighted by DAP’s Klang MP Charles Santiago may be suspended.
“If there are enough evidence that they are involved or they did that, by abusing (their) power and assaulting the kids, surely they will be charged,” he said.
In his latest Facebook posting, Charles alleged that the “unrestrained violence” took place over the weekend, with at least four cops beating up two 14-year-old students while being interrogated at the Klang Selatan district police headquarters.
“The police personnel, including a woman officer, punched and slapped them on the face, hit them with a rubber hose, stomped on them, pulled their hair and caught them by their necks before slamming them against the wall and sofa.
“The woman officer threw her shoes at one of the boys and slapped him,” he said in his post.
Charles alleged that the incident took place after police failed to get a remand extension for the two students, who were arrested after a gang fight outside their school.
“They were instead ordered to be released,” he said.

Agency records 717 school students involved in drugs last year
The National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) recorded 717 school students nationwide for being involved in drugs last year, said Deputy Education Minister P Kamalanathan.
He said the total showed an increase compared to 2014 in which 622 students, aged between 13 and 18, were involved.
“Drug usage among students is still under control and those involved are closely monitored and given counselling.
“The ministry is now focusing on category ‘C’ schools which have disciplinary records, including high rate of truancy,” he said.

In this regard, Kamalanathan said the ministry was now awaiting the full report from AADK and police on the detention of two secondary school students believed to be involved in trafficking ganja around Bandar Sunway recently
“I understand the incident took place outside of the school compound. But I am disappointed as it involved young students with drugs.
