To Ali Hamsa
You have a B. Econ. from University Malaya, and from Oklahoma State University an (MS in Economics), (PhD. Environmental Economics). You have had so many honors bestowed upon you that honors are flowing out of every orifice of your physical self.
You have two Datuk Seri Utama to your name. three Dato, a Dato Paduka and a Datuk Wira , four Datuk Seri, four Dato Sri and one Datuk Seri Panglima and a Tan Sri to boot!
You co-authored two books namely “Dasar-Dasar Utama Kerajaan” (1997) and “Malaysia Kita” (1998). You became the first Malaysian to receive an honorary science doctorate from B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai, India.
You were the Chief Secretary to the Government, the most senior officer in the Malaysian Civil Service, secretary to the Cabinet of Malaysia and the secretary-general of the Prime Minister’s Department. You reported to the Prime Minister. You were a member of the Cabinet. You were appointed by the King.
You solemnly swore that you will faithfully discharge the duties of your office to the best of your ability, that you will bear true faith and allegiance to Malaysia, and that you will preserve, protect and defend its Constitution.
And then your Prime Minister directly ordered amendments to be made to the 2016 Auditor-General’s (A-G) report on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) that was to be presented to Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee. The Prime Minister did not want the audit report to include mention that 1MDB had two different financial statements for the financial year 2014. Four main items were removed from the Auditor-General’s audit report on 1MDB, including an incident where Najib failed to inform the Cabinet over the agreement with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to delay a RM5 billion fund-raising exercise – which if included, would have shown that the prime minister was lying and hiding facts. You lied to the people of Malaysia to protect the “good name” of a Prime Minister who is now known globally as one of the greatest kleptocrat ever!
Ali you did not have the courage to stand up to a prime minister whom you knew have done wrong. You did not have the backbone to keep to your oath of office to preserve, protect and defend our nation’s constitution. For all that and more, you deserve our contempt and disgust for the manner you have conducted yourself when you were the most senior civil servant in the Malaysian Civil Service?
