Anti-Bersih group disrupts gathering in Penang
GEORGE TOWN: A group of anti-Bersih supporters disrupted a Bersih gathering in Bukit Gedung here on Sunday night.
The group, clad in red, insisted that the Bersih talk end if organisers did not want anything unfavourable to take place.
The protesters urged Bersih supporters to go home with shouts of “Undur! Undur! Bersih!” (Retreat! Retreat! Bersih!).
Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin, who organised the Bersih talk, described the group’s behaviour as provocative.
“The situation was tense at a point but a sudden downpour cooled it down.
“We had a permit for our gathering, they did not,” he said when met at the scene, adding that police had maintained the peace.

IGP: Jamal’s declaration of war against Bersih just ‘war of words’
Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar is of the opinion that red-shirts movement leader Jamal Md Yunos’ declaration of war against electoral reform group Bersih was merely a “war of words”.
“For merely declaring war, to me, (it is) just a war of words,” he told reporters in a press conference at the Royal Malaysia Police College in Kuala Lumpur today.
