Johor sultan: We accept handshakes from all to avoid offence
Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has urged everybody to stop playing up the issue of him or Crown Prince Tunku Ismail shaking hands with members of the public.
Sultan Ibrahim said he shakes hands with people from all segments of society, male or female, as part of his role as the state ruler.
“I am not simply shaking hands with females, but as a ruler, I am concerned about the people’s wish to shake hands (with me).
“I do not want to offend and shame the people, who may be uncomfortable if I do not respond to them when they stretch out their hands.
“Thanks for the advice, but doesn’t the ruler show his concerns for the people as part of religious teaching?” Sultan Ibrahim said when opening the 60th state level Quran Reciting Competition at Dataran Tanjung Emas yesterday.
He urged everyone to stop seeking publicity for personal gains, which would spoil the unity of society that had been built all this while.

YOURSAY | Johor prince delivers sucker punch to critics https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/331340

YOURSAY | ‘Such simple basic honesty is what we need in the country.’
I don’t wear a jubah and steal from rakyat, says Johor prince
CQ Muar: The crown prince of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, must be hailed for his frank and candid opinion. Particularly those ministers and leaders, who think so highly of themselves, must take a cue from Tunku Ismail.
Johoreans are extremely proud to have such a royalty to teach them how to be upright, humble and not indulge in shady activities and hypocrisy.
RM2.6 Billion Turkey Haram: “It’s better to be hated for being honest and real than be loved and be a fake and a hypocrite,” say the prince.
Coming from a young prince, I am humbled. This remark applies very aptly to our bunch of corrupt leaders who are first-class hypocrites.
We need more royalties to voice the people’s worries of the country’s economy. Daulat Tuanku. Allah always bless you.
Gaji Buta: Are those commenting on the Tunku Ismail’s handshake the same ones who surf porn all day, consume tongkat ali in massive doses to have permanent erections, plan on taking four wives and hope to go to heaven to be with 72 virgins?
Can’t be, right? They must be really righteous people, with no lust in their heads.
Anonymous 1345101442495551: Thank you for your intelligent, reasonable and humble response to the usual hateful ignorant imbeciles that make idiotic judgements on absolutely trivial and unimportant matters.
Turvy: By saying these things, Tunku Ismail fills a great void in this country, of true leaders whose beliefs support the building of a nation and its people.
From across the parties in the ruling coalition, our mediocre, half-wit, so-called leaders have exploited race to keep themselves in power and rob the nation while chanting race, nation and religion.
Comes this man to show us that the jubah is only a camouflage for thieves. In a country that is bereft of true patriots, he is going to attract a lot of interest, especially from the young.
JD Lovrenciear: So brilliantly spoken. Why can’t the Umno politicians articulate so truthfully and walk the talk of honest humility?
Greed, avarice, complicity, corruption and the insatiable quest for power and control perhaps are the deeply entrenched reasons. God forbid.
6th Generation Immigrant: Such simple basic honesty is what we need in the country. I hope the Tunku will now also move to remove “the need to regulate, administrate and control of religions” eventually to all the states.
This will remove the holier-than-thou individuals, agencies, religious political parties and departments. Religion, like the Tunku intimated, is between an individual and God, not agencies, departments, political parties or even trained religious leaders.
Headhunter: Tunku, I can’t agree with you more. One’s religion or belief is very personal and no one except God can have a say in it.
The problem with our country is that there are too many self-anointed holy men and women out there who think they are holier than the rest of us.
Most of them are misguided and with shallow knowledge but think they can save our souls when they can’t even save their own.
Unspin: Tunku Ismail is a rare breed of Malaysians who can say the things that most Malaysians wanted to say without getting into trouble.
If his royal peers in the other states can echo him, it might snowball into a legitimate movement to make Malaysia a better place for all Malaysians.
…
Odin Tajué: Your Royal Highness Tunku Ismail, you and your royal parents are a rarity, the rubies that adorn a diadem, whereas all else are but mere rhinestones and fool’s gold.
Ahmet Al Tarabulshit: Wow. Finally. A sucker punch to the extremists.

Some netizens had recently criticised the Johor prince after pictures showing him shaking hands with Safiq’s wife at a cafe belonging to the footballer had circulated online.
Tunku Ismail later mocked his critics in a video that was uploaded to the Johor Southern Tigers page on Monday evening.
In the clip, the Johor prince is seen walking towards his car when an identified woman walks up to him and offers to shake his hand.
Instead of taking her hand immediately, he then puts on a large glove, resembling the hand of Hulk, and only then proceeds with the handshake.

Hmmm…. “Unbelievable”
DYAM Brigadier Jeneral Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Mahkota Johor.
Do all the other Royals shake hands with women? Does the Prime minister of Malaysia shake hands with women? Do the people of Malaysia shake hands with women?
But when involving me, it turns into a big issue.
Yesterday i was told to wear gloves, today i wear gloves and its still not good enough. Hmmm… “Unbelievable”

TMJ hits back at haters, posts satirical video
PETALING JAYA: Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has taken a swipe at critics who castigated him for shaking hands with the wife of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) captain Safiq Rahim.
The Johor Crown Prince, clearly annoyed by individuals he claimed were trying to be “Ustaz or State mufti in Facebook”, said only God could judge him for his actions.

Saya menghormati pilihan anda walaupun saya pelik mengapa orang Malaysia terutamanya orang Melayu begitu mudah terpengaruh? Jawapannya mudah. Pendidikan.

ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE ME
I was informed by our club’s website that there were a lot of negative comments on how Safiq Rahim’s wife shook hands with me. There are a few individuals who are trying to be an Ustaz or the State mufti in facebook. To me, when it comes to religion we are nothing compared to the Almighty. Therefore only ALLAH can judge us and not us human beings. Only ALLAH can decide whether our prayers is accepted or not. Only God can judge whether we go to heaven or hell. We are simply human beings and therefore should not judge others especially on petty things. Islam is about love and respect and not about judging others especially when it involves hatred. The problem is too many are trying to be smarter than the Quraan. Although I am born to be a Ruler, I am also just a human being. I have no rights to judge whether ALLAH will accept you or otherwise. Unless you rape people or children, kill people, steal or take from the needy.
Here is some honesty that some of you hypocrites are not used to because too many of you are used to pretentious people in your life here. I am a Muslim and the holy religion of Islam is much bigger than me. I must say I am not an expert when it comes to Islam but one thing I believe is that ALLAH will bless you, if you have a good heart, kind, honest, helping one another and respecting others. There are many school of thoughts in Islam. Who are we to say which one of us will go to heaven? Who are we to say which school of thoughts is the right Islam. As for me, I prefer to stick with what I have been taught since I was young and abiding by the Holy Quraan. I’m also going to stick to my customs and traditions of a Malay because I’m born a malay. If there are some of you who wish to be an Arab with their cultures and do not wish to follow our malay custom and tradition that is up to you. At least I’m real and not a hypocrite and the people of Johor know who their Ruler is. I don’t pretend to wear a jubah but behind closed doors be addicted to drugs and neither am I a gambling junkie. I do not steal from my people and I always speak the truth. I have the courage to speak what others dare not because of their own personal interest and with me, what you see is what you get. I always strive to be as real and transparent as I can with my people because as I’ve mentioned numerous times its better to be hated for being honest and real than be loved and be a fake and a hypocrite.
I respect your choice eventhough I’m amazed why we Malaysian especially the Malays are so easily influenced? The answer is simple. Education. Education allows us to see the world differently. Education gives you the knowledge to abide by your principles and policies in life. I have no rights to tell you what to believe or follow and all I have is my honest, humble opinion that we shouldn’t try to be smarter than the Quraan. All we need to know are the basics. To my fellow Johoreans, Be a Muslim not an extremist. Being a Muslim is to respect one another. Johor has its own tradition and culture and the same goes to other states. We are all different. Different in the teachings of Islam, different in other religions and ethnic group. Pointing fingers and judging each other will not make this country a better place. We shouldn’t have any place in our heart for hatred. Do you know how we can make this country a better place and live in harmony? Simple, educate yourself, and respect one another. Hidup Johor, ALLAH Peliharakan Sultan and the State of Johor.
