TMJ‘s claim on phone tapping a misunderstanding, says IGP | http://buff.ly/1T7gPWc
KUALA LUMPUR: A claim by Tunku Mahkota of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim on Facebook that Bukit Aman’s Special Branch had tapped his phone was a misunderstanding, said Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
The Inspector-General of Police said he had an audience with Tunku Ismail today.
“It was an hour-long meeting and I have explained to Tuanku and there is no problem.
“It was a small misunderstanding and that is why Tuanku made the posting,” he told reporters after attending the Rujirawongse Cup 2016 Rugby tournament at the Police Training Centre here.
Tunku Ismail, who is also Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) football club owner, had made the claim in an interview with a journalist which was uploaded on Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page on Wednesday.
He declined to elaborate on the content and nature of the meeting, saying that Khalid is expected to give a statement on the matter.

TMJ claims his phone is tapped, movements monitored by SB
Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has claimed that his phone is being tapped and that his movements are being monitored by the police special branch.
He also claimed that the Bukit Aman police headquarters has opened files on him and his father, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.
Tunku Ismail, who is popularly referred to as TMJ (the acronym for Tengku Mahkota Johor or crown prince) expressed puzzlement that he is being accorded treatment that is more befitting a terrorist.
“I don’t understand why my phone is bugged. I don’t understand why my movements are monitored by the special branch.
“I don’t understand why they need a file about me or my father in Bukit Aman,” he said in an interview posted on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page today.
“I’m a leader who cares for my people. Not a terrorist. I’m not dangerous. I have never killed anyone except for Malaysian football,” he lamented.
His outburst about the alleged monitoring of his phone and movements came out of the blue when he was interviewed about the success of the Johor Darul Tazim (JDT) football team, which had won a place in the FA Cup finals.
