IPOH: Perak executive council member Paul Yong Choo Kiong has denied that he is quitting DAP.
He said this when asked if talk about him leaving the party were true, following political developments in the country.
“Who said this? I am still with DAP.
“Rumours are everywhere, but I am still a loyal DAP member, and I will not be leaving DAP to join any other party,” he told reporters outside the Sessions Court here Tuesday (March 3).
Yong was present at the court in relation to his rape trial, together with several other DAP and Pakatan Harapan members, including state speaker Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham.
“What we need to concentrate now is what will happen to the Perak state government. Talk about me leaving DAP, or me joining another party is not important.
“Until and unless the Mentri Besar makes any decision, I am still an exco member, and Ngeh the Speaker,” he added.
When asked Ngeh on the political stand in Perak, he said the national leaders would issue the necessary statements and decisions on the current happenings.
