Of nudity and pornography
#COMMENT Stephen Ng | Of nudity and pornography http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/309361

COMMENT Federal Territories minister Tengku Adnan Yaakob deserves the brickbats and the severest condemnation from the people from all walks of life for his uncouth manner of speech when he spoke about Bersih 4 rally participants going “nude” in the Melawati Stadium.
…
What Tengku Adnan fails to understand is that the people are not only concerned but angry with the current regime.
To use the word ‘nudity’ on respectable citizens of this country is to rub salt into the wound. Personally, I am not impressed with the mannerism of this minister who is also the secretary-general of Umno and Barisan Nasional. He brings shame not only to himself, but to his party and the coalition that he represents.
It is also uncivilised of a Malay minister to speak like that. By using such a word, he is telling even the senior citizens of this country to go nude during Bersih 4 rally.
STEPHEN NG is an ordinary citizen with an avid interest in following political developments in the country since 2008.

Ku Nan: KL folk need to be wary of protesters’ agenda
Kuala Lumpur residents are advised to be wary of the agenda of organisers of the planned illegal gatherings and street protests in the city.
Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, who gave this advice, believes that these protest organisers are out to divide the people.
“I ask that the public not follow these protest masterminds who are mostly outsiders fond of organising street demonstrations, as such action would only damage our city,” he told reporters at the ministry’s Aidilfitri open house in Kuala Lumpur today.
He was referring to the planned holding of the Bersih 4 illegal gatherings in the federal capital on Aug 29 and 30.

Don’t ‘spoil my city’, FT minister tells civil society ahead of Aug 29 rally
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 — Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor cautioned civil societies today against demonstrating in the national capital here as it would “spoil” the city and make its residents fearful.
As several non-government organisations plan for an overnight gathering in Kuala Lumpur starting August 29, the Federal Territories minister said that KL residents were “angry” when such protests take place as it disrupts the public and its surrounding businesses.
“Those from KL also feel angry because vendors are angry, the rakyat is angry, they want to go out also they don’t know if they should because they’re scared and such,” he said when a reporter asked what his message was to electoral reforms watchdog Bersih 2.0, spearheading the month-end rally.
“Don’t do all this because this will spoil my city,” he said during a press conference at the Federal Territory and KL City Hall (DBKL) Hari Raya open house.
During his speech at the Hari Raya open house, he said those participating in street rallies are often “outsiders”.
He also warned KL residents not to to air their grouses through street demonstrations but instead to speak to their local government directly.
“No point we take to the streets, come forth and tell us what you want and we will try to accommodate as much as we can.”
