Protesters outside Parliament provoked police officers and men guarding the building by pelting water bottles, eggs and paint at them, claims Kuala Lumpur police chief Mohmad Salleh.
In a press statement posted on Facebook this afternoon, Mohmad said the protesters subsequently charged at the barricade protecting the entrance to Parliament, injuring several police personnel.
“At around 11.30am when the police were guarding the entrance to the Malaysian Parliament, they were charged at by protesters…,” he said.
As a result, Mohmad said, a number of his officers suffered various injuries, including a broken tooth.
“A senior officer from the Sentul district police headquarters suffered injuries on his right eye and nose.
“Another officer from the Dang Wangi district police headquarters sprained his left thumb and also suffered a broken front tooth,” he said.
…..
Mohmad added that several other police officers had also suffered light injuries.
“However, the police were able to control the situation from persisting.
“A total of 32 people were arrested, consisting of 29 males and three females…,” he said.

Police arrest 15 protesters who tried to barge into Parliament
More than 15 protesters, including activists Shukri Razab, Adam Adli Abd Halim and Badrul Hisham Shahrin, were detained as the demonstration outside parliament fizzled out.
They surrendered to police peacefully after earlier trying to bulldoze their way into parliament to hand over a memorandum demanding the resignation of the head of the Election Commission, Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof.
Those arrested were taken to the Dang Wangi police headquarters at about noon.
Earlier, police had to form a human shield to stop the group from entering Parliament.
The protesters, led by Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia, had earlier camped out for two days at Padang Merbok before marching to Parliament this morning.
They also urged Batu MP Tian Chua, who was with them, to boycott the swearing in of Members of Parliament.
The group then quietened down and lay on the ground until they heard that opposition MPs had been sworn in. Several of them then tried to push their way in before police intercepted them. – June 24, 2013.
