PAS: We’ll teach Ibrahim Ali a lesson
Ibrahim Ali convinced Che Johan, who is his prodigy, to quit the race knowing that the latter would face the wrath of Umno
PASIR MAS: Kelantan PAS has vowed to end the political career of maverick politician Ibrahim Ali during the 13th general election.
Accusing Ibrahim of being a “backstabber”, state PAS deputy commissioner Nik Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said that this will be Ibrahim’s last outing.
Ibrahim had contested on a PAS ticket in the 2008 general election. But within three months he had started criticising the party.
Nik Amar said it became obvious to many that Ibrahim had just used PAS for his own personal agenda.
“This time PAS will teach him a lesson. We will reclaim back the seat,” Nik Amar said.
According to Nik Amar, Ibrahim cannot win on his own strength in Pasir Mas although he regarded the constituency as his personal stronghold.
Ibrahim is up against PAS spiritual adviser Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat’s son, Nik Abduh in a straight fight after Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Che Johan Che Pa failed to file his nomination papers on April 20.

Umno’s Pasir Mas charade dents 1Malaysia
Political observer and author Kee Tuan Chye says the move has proven Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s adeptness at trickery.
KUALA LUMPUR: Umno’s eleventh hour decision to pull out of the Pasir Mas race has dealt another blow to Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s 1Malaysia slogan.
By doing so, Umno has paved the way for Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali to defend his seat in a straight fight with Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, the son of PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat.
Prior to this, Umno had named its Pasir Mas division deputy chief Che Johan Che Pa as the candidate.
But Che Johan, who was present at the nomination centre this morning, did not file his papers.
Some observers speculated that it could have been due to pressure from former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is the patron of Perkasa.
However, political observer and author Kee Tuan Chye said the move was part of Najib’s plan from the start.
“We can see through the subterfuge in Pasir Mas. Najib didn’t dare name Ibrahim outright for fear the non-Malays would crucify him for naming someone largely seen as a racist.
“Najib would have been exposed for contradicting his own 1Malaysia hogwash. He named Che Johan Che Pa instead,” he said in a Facebook posting.
When Che Johan did not file his nomination papers, Kee said it was obvious that the Umno leader was not meant to do so from the start.
“It was all a sandiwara [charade] to let Ibrahim Ali contest in a straight fight against the PAS candidate. Najib shows once again his adeptness at trickery and his gutlessness in presenting the people with the truth.

Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali expressed disappointment he was not given a seat by BN, unlike Perkasa vice-president Zulkifli Noordin.
However, it did not mean that Ibrahim was upset with Zulkifli and was in fact glad that the latter will be fielded.
According to a report by Astro Awani, Ibrahim said what made him upset that he was not given any reason for being turned down.
“Not being shortlisted means I was not given a chance. I don’t know why. Maybe I don’t look handsome enough or other reasons,” said Ibrahim in jest, when met at the airport in Pengkala Chepa.
However, Ibrahim said would be contesting as an Independent in Pasir Mas, a seat which he had won a few times with different parties.

BN must ignore Dr M on Ibrahim Ali or risk backlash, say analysts
By Ida Lim
April 09, 2013
KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 – Political analysts have said Barisan Nasional (BN)’s image would be tarnished if it picks Datuk Ibrahim Ali as a candidate in Election 2013, indicating that it would be best for the ruling coalition’s chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak to ignore Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s call to do so.
Prof Dr Jayum A. Jawan, from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), said Dr Mahathir should remain as a statesman instead of meddling in BN’s political affairs, while also saying: “The best approach is for Najib to ignore the statement.”
He said there would be a “very negative effect” and “backlash” from the voters if Najib and BN takes Dr Mahathir’s advice to field the controversial Malay-rights leader.
He said Ibrahim’s brand of politics would not go down well in Malaysia’s multiracial society, referring to his Malay right-wing group Perkasa.
……….
Another analyst, Wan Saiful Wan Jan, said it was “really unfortunate to hear Tun Mahathir saying that because Najib has been trying to push Umno and BN forward in the sense it is not too restricted on ethnic lines.”
“Having any candidate that takes a very strong ethnic line will damage the potential of any political party,” the chief executive officer for Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) said.
………
Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM)’s Dr Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani: The independent MP would find it hard to win in Pasir Mas against PAS and Umno, also pointing out that PAS was unlikely to allow Ibrahim to contest under its ticket again as it did in 2008.
But Ibrahim could be a “winnable candidate” if he contests under BN’s ticket, the academic said, pointing to factors such as his incumbency and the support of Dr Mahathir, which will in turn cause the party machinery there to campaign for him.

The question now is how is he going to contest against PAS – as a BN candidate or an Independent? He was expelled for life by former Umno president Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his only way of being admitted is by consensus of the supreme council members.

A big poser has developed over where and for which party Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali is contesting in this general election.
Ibrahim won the 2008 polls in Pasir Mas on a PAS ticket and since then, he has ignored PAS and even hit out at Menteri Besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.
Instead of supporting PAS programmes in the state, Ibrahim has taken on the role of an opposition to the state government and at federal level, with Perkasa as his platform, Ibrahim projects himself as a champion of Malays and Islam.
Ibrahim was quick to hit the headlines with his comments that pleased some Umno leaders and members and became the thorn to opposition PAS and PKR.
The question now is how is he going to contest against PAS – as a BN candidate or an Independent?
If Ibrahim contests as a true Independent, how is he going to campaign as his future plans to the voters would be similar to BN candidate.
……….
If he is to contest as a BN-friendly candidate and if BN would not field any for Pasir Mas, Ibrahim would have a smooth walk but will such a thing happen?
Ibrahim cannot be admitted into Umno as he was expelled for life by former Umno president Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his only way of being admitted is by consensus of the supreme council members.
And will Umno, under the presidency of Najib, admit him into the fold now?

MAHATHIR’S LATEST EXCUSE FOR HIS TOP RACIST HENCHMAN
Malaysia Chronicle

Dr M: Ibrahim Ali didn’t mean to insult the Bible, he just thought it was ILLEGAL!
Ibrahim, with his no-holds-barred attitude, has often run afoul the country’s non-Muslim communities with his racially-charged remarks, such as his recent suggestion to burn Malay-language Bibles containing the word “Allah”.
When Ibrahim made the suggestion, Dr Mahathir had come to the former’s rescue to explain that the Perkasa president was merely referring to the common practice of burning publications that have been identified as illegal.
“Usually, if there is a publication that has been banned, the action taken is to burn these books.
“So his (Ibrahim) view is that if this Bible is illegal in terms of policy, he chose to opt for the common method of burning them,” he had said at a press conference,
“So I don’t think that he (Ibrahim) had any intention to insult the kitab injil… it was not his intention.”

Mahathir backs Ibrahim as Pasir Mas candidate
He also vows to campaign for the Perkasa chief.
SHAH ALAM: Independent MP Ibrahim Ali has received endorsement from former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to be fielded as a Barisan Nasional candidate in Pasir Mas, Kelantan, in the coming general election.
Describing Ibrahim as a “selfless” politician when addressing the crowd at an anti-Pakatan rally here today, Mahathir praised him for setting up Perkasa – an NGO – and continuously supporting BN.
“He set up Perkasa not because to promote himself, but to campaign for BN. I think he is a man who deserved to be given a position. I will advise Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak to give him a position.
“If he gets nominated in Pasir Mas, I will definitely go there to campaign for him,” he said.

The country would be saved if there were more people like Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali, said former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The patron of the Malay supremacist group said this today when endorsing Ibrahim to contest the Pasir Mas parliamentary seat under BN’s ticket.
“This is repayment, because in BN we repay good deeds… God willing if he is made a candidate, I would go to Pasir Mas to campaign.
“Perkasa is no small ‘party’, it has 400,000 members. It is probably bigger than PAS, but is not greedy.
“If there are many people like Ibrahim, this country is saved,” he said amid the cheers of a 3,000-strong audience.
Mahathir was speaking at Perkasa’s ‘Save Selangor Rally’ today held on a waterlogged field in Shah Alam.

Umno and its lackey Perkasa — Ali Kadir
April 06, 2013
APRIL 6 — How nice? Ibrahim Ali says that he will drop bombshells on Pakatan Rakyat’s leaders and shock the nation.
And what is he waiting for: the go-ahead from none other than Prime Minister Najib Razak.
So now the Umno gang can drop all the wayang and confirm what the rest of Malaysia have known all along: that Ibrahim Ali and Perkasa are just an extension of Umno, a nauseating and disgusting extension of a politics which has outsourced its dirty work.
But then again, nothing should shock us anymore.
This is a political party and NGO nexus which has brought us political violence on a scale never before seen in Malaysia; a partnership that has promoted racism and chauvinism like never before and political strategies rooted in the bowel thinking.
Ibrahim Ali and Zulkifli Nordin are cut from the same cloth, both pretending to be not linked to Umno but really part of the underbelly of this once political institution. They do the dirty work that Umno leaders are unwilling to do themselves.
And when you look at Ibrahim and Zulkifli, you look at Umno. Both and their political masters have no credibility, not enough one iota.
What does it say of our leaders who depend on men like these?

2,000 throng Perkasa final rally
Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad was among the crowd who gathered in a show of strength against Pakatan Rakyat.
SHAH ALAM: Some 2,000 people including former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Selangor Barisan Nasional leaders today gathered in a Perkasa rally here, which called for the ouster of Pakatan Rakyat state government ahead of a crucial general election.
Dubbed by the organiser as its final rally before the polls, the rally drew many BN supporters who donned the coalition signature blue T-shirt or Perkasa red T-shirt.
When Mahathir arrived at 3.30pm at a school field, the crowd waved the BN flags enthusiastically and chanted “Hidup Tun”.
“With this kind of spirit, I am confident that come the 13th general election, Pakatan will be finished off here,” declared Perkasa deputy president Zulkilfli Noordin.
