Sabah police are reportedly investigating a video where a member of the force allegedly hit five people with a stick.
The video appeared to have been taken outside a mosque in Kunak, Sabah. The Star reported that the 27-second clip is believed to have been taken yesterday.
The report quoted Sabah deputy police chief Mazli Mazlan saying, “An internal investigation is ongoing.”
Mazli reportedly told the daily that the police officer had instructed five people – believed to be teens – to go home after they were found loitering in the area despite the movement control order being in effect.
“However, when he returned to the same spot (after continuing his patrol), the five people were still there and he again told them to leave,” Mazli reportedly said.
He added that the group responded by laughing and refused to budge, so the police officer took drastic action.
The group was later allowed to return home, he said.
