The mother of one of the students depicted kissing and hugging in a video clip which has since gone viral believes that the matter should not be blown out of proportion.

“They are just kids in love. The incident occurred because there were people who were cheering them on,” she told Malaysiakini.

The male student’s mother explained that his son was ‘proposing’ to the female student to be his date to the school dance.

The mother claimed that there were quarters who took the opportunity to worsen the situation by spreading the recording of the incident.

She stressed that the duo are children who listen to their parents and whose actions are always monitored by their parents.

The couple, she said, has never gone out together alone.

“Both parents know about their relationship. That (kissing and hugging) was just a way for them to express themselves, nothing more than that.

“It’s the start of their relationship but, of course, both parents will ensure that such an incident would not recur,” she said.

PASIR GUDANG: Deputy Education Minister P. Kamalanathan said he will investigate a viral video of two secondary school students hugging and kissing in what looked like a courting couple’s proposal.

He said the students and school were not yet identified, but the matter will be looked into.

The 15-second video uploaded on the Mynewshub Facebook yesterday showed a girl in school uniform running towards a male student who was down on his knees at the compound of a school.

They were surrounded by other students who cheered with some of them shouting: “kiss him, kiss him!”. The two students embraced and kissed.

Pasir Gudang: Kementerian Pendidikan akan melakukan siasatan terperinci mengenai aksi lamaran dan kucupan pasangan kekasih membabitkan pelajar sekolah menengah yang tersebar di laman sosial, semalam.

Timbalan Menterinya P Kamalanathan berkata, pihaknya akan meneliti video berkenaan sebelum mengambil tindakan susulan.

“Kami akan mengenal pasti dan tidak tahu mengenai sekolah itu (lokasi kejadian).

“Saya belum menontonnya, tetapi buat masa ini kami akan melihat video dan kenal pasti di mana lokasinya,” katanya.

Beliau berkata demikian ketika diminta mengulas mengenai video berdurasi pendek mengenai pasangan pelajar sekolah yang didakwa melalui proses lamaran dengan aksi berakhir adegan bercium.
