THE Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) have finally opened an investigation into some questionable dealings in the critical supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) and Covid 19 testing mechanisms.

The Malaysian Insight today reported that the MACC has began a probe into a ministry (believed to be the Health Ministry) into the manner by which a contract was awarded to a company to supply PPEs for frontliners at a critical time last month.

According to the TMI report, quoting an MACC source: “The investigation is still at an early stage. We opened the file as soon as we received information on the contract, as well as through questions which were raised on social media.”

The report stated that the company involved was not qualified to supply such equipment as its nature of business was real estate.

talkedabout.org had earlier reported that an alleged RM24 million shipment of face masks for use by front liners in the battle against Covid 19, was rejected by the Health Ministry after failing a fit test and was deemed only suitable for use as surgical masks in regular medical services.
