No, Greta Thunberg did not ask the Chinese to stop using chopsticks to save the trees. It’s fake news.

I’ve tried to search this down and I can’t find any actual source that she’s said this.

In fact, the only thing I can find are unsourced Twitter claims on the Greta Thunberg hashtag (not from Thunberg herself) claiming she said this, usually combined with some form of personal insult.

If she actually said this, please show the source. I’ll eat my words. And remember that the claim was that China should “ban chopsticks,” not that, say, perhaps single-use chopsticks should be curtailed. Not that I can find any evidence that she said that but being clear is best.

In the meantime, let’s take note of what many of the answers here, in effect, are: a bunch of grown adults accepting a brief, unsourced Quora question as their news source, getting angry, and raging against what appears to be an imaginary comment by a 16 year old. Good job, folks, you nailed it.

I’m especially a fan of the individual here who is quick to note that she has “mental issues.”

I, too, look forward to the day I can enter into a frothing rant at unsourced news about a teenage girl and take the opportunity to mock said teenage girl’s mental health.25.7k views · View Upvoters · View Sharers
