Ex IGP Musa Hassan: DAP is trying to change history by reviving communism…

UiTM should dismiss former Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan as lecturer at its Centre of Media and Information Warfare Studies (CMIWS) if it aspires to be a centre of excellence for its information warfare centre, as the former IGP has become a “poster boy” not only for media illiteracy but also for lies, fake news and hate speech.

Last October, Musa made himself the joke in the cyber world when he demonstrated his media illiteracy by showing that he did not know that The Onion website was a satirical news website when he defended his comment against an old Onion article on terrorist Osama Bin Laden and the United States’ Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), entitled “CIA Issues Posthumous Apology After New Evidence Clears Osama Bin Laden Of Involvement In 9/11 Attacks”.

Recently, Musa again made a fool of himself when he tried to poison the minds of the new generation of Malaysians alleging that DAP has an agenda to rewrite history by reviving the communist ideology.

In doing do, Musa denigrated the Special Branch of the Malaysian Police as an useless and incompetent outfit, when in fact the Special Branch is one of the best of its kind in the world.

Over past five decades, the Special Branch could not find any connection of DAP with the communist movement, but Musa, who was the eighth IGP from 2006 – 2010, now alleges that DAP wants to revive the communist ideology!

Is Musa suggesting that the Police should arrest and detain the DAP Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Members of Parliament for trying “to revive the communist Ideology”, when this is completely baseless, untrue and a total figment of Musa’s imagination?

UiTM’s CIMWS should be one of the agencies that should be in the forefront to promote media literacy in Malaysia with the upsurge of lies, fake news and hate speech to incite inter-racial and inter-religious polarisation and conflict in Malaysia so that all Malaysians can differentiate fact from misinformation and disinformation, and truth from lies.

Dr. Nuurrianti Jallin, a fellow of CIMWS, suggested in an article in local media today the establishment of a fact-checking agency to mitigate the information disorder in our society, but how can CIMWS have the authority and credibility to play a leading role in promoting media literacy in Malaysia when it most star-studded lecturer is a “poster boy” not only for media illiteracy but also for lies, fake news and hate speech?

Ex-IGP embarrassing self, misusing position to serve political masters – DAP Youth

Published: Feb 1st, 2020

DAP Youth has refuted an attempt by Musa Hassan to associate the party with communism, adding that the former inspector-general of police (IGP) has embarrassed himself by making such claims.

The party wing has since lodged police reports against Musa (above) in multiple locations including Perak, Melaka and Penang.

In a statement today, DAP Youth chief Howard Lee said Musa had misused his position as the former top cop for political purposes.

“It is clear that Musa’s allegations against DAP are blasphemous, slanderous and irresponsible. He has embarrassed himself as the former IGP […]

“He is clearly misusing his position as the former IGP by spreading fictitious stories, beating the drum for his political masters. What is more shameful is that he has insulted and degraded the image of the police with such bad-intended allegations.

“His false allegations raise questions as to who his real ‘political master’ is, seeing that the claims were not based on historical facts but constituted the type of slander often used by certain quarters to incite racial hatred in the country,” he said.

Elaborating, Lee pointed to an interview where Communist Party of Malaya former chairperson Abdullah CD denied DAP had any links to communism.

Last week, Musa claimed during a lecture at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) that DAP was attempting to revive the communist ideology.

The event, entitled “The Hat Yai Peace Accord 1989: Did the CPM surrender?” was broadcast live on Facebook.

An agreement between the CPM and the governments of Malaysia as well as Thailand, the accord marked the end of the communist insurgency and led to the disbandment of the CPM.

‘Christian state’ claims

During his lecture, Musa had also accused DAP of trying to rewrite history by blaming the Malays for starting the May 13, 1969 race riots.

He further claimed that Women, Family and Community Development Minister Hannah Yeoh was attempting to turn Malaysia into a “Christian state”.

Lee chastised Musa for making such claims.

“Such evil allegations that are capable of causing unrest ought not to be accepted […]

“I hope the police take stern action on his allegations as they are capable of creating tension among the people,” he said.

FORMER inspector-general of police Musa Hassan has accused DAP of an agenda to rewrite history by reviving communist ideology.

The retired top cop made this claim when giving a lecture at Universiti Teknologi Mara on the 1989 Hat Yai Peace Treaty, which ended the communist insurgency between the Communist Party Malaya, Malaysia and Thailand. It also led to the CPM disbanding.
