Detained siblings sent for psychiatric evaluation

KUALA LUMPUR: Two siblings were sent for pyschiatric evaluation today at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) after being held by police on Tuesday for the murder of their mother.
Cheras police chief ACP Chong Kok Sin said the 25-year-old man and his 23-year-old sister, both undergraduates of International Islamic University of Malaysia (UIA) in Gombak and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) in Nilai respectively, were remanded for six days today to assist in the probe of the murder of their mother, Wan Yah Wan Mat, 63 at Bandar Tasik Permaisuri, Cheras.
He said a magistrate issued the remand order at the HKL where the siblings are undergoing a battery of tests with psychiatrists.

Siblings remanded over mother’s death
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have obtained a seven-day remand order against two siblings to facilitate police investigations into the death of their mother in Cheras today.
Cheras police chief Assistant Commissioner Chong Kok Sin said the two siblings were being remanded at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital at the moment.
“The siblings, aged 20 and 25 are being held there to enable them to visit a psychiatrist at the hospital as it is believed they are mentally unstable,” he said today.
They will be remanded from today until Tuesday.

Two siblings arrested over mother’s murder
KUALA LUMPUR: Two siblings have been arrested over the murder of their 63-year-old mother at a flat in Bandar Permaisuri, Cheras.
The two – a 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman – were detained in the living room of a Pangsapuri Sri Penara unit here beside the body of their mother, Wan Yah Wan Mat from Kelantan.
City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said Wan Yah was discovered with bruises on her eyes and mouth, while traces of blood were seen oozing from her nose.
“The back of her head was also bruised. She was pronounced dead by a medical team from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital at the scene,” said Asst Comm Zainuddin.
He said that Wan Yah’s two children were arrested immediately at the scene.

Elderly woman found dead in Cheras apartment

PETALING JAYA: A 63-year-old woman was found dead in her living room at Sri Penara apartment in Bandar Permaisuri, Cheras today.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said police also detained two suspects, aged 25 and 22, believed to be close relatives of the deceased at the scene.
In the 3pm incident, Zainuddin said police received a distress call that there was water flowing from the main door of the victim’s house.
“We rushed to the scene and upon arrival, the main door was locked.
“A team from the Fire and Rescue department came and broke the main door before we found the body,” Zainuddin said.
He added that the victim was pronounced dead by a medical officer from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital (HUKM).
