Police: Don’t believe rumours about Kuala Selangor riot By DAWN CHAN – 13 September 2015 @ 8:02 PM
KUALA SELANGOR: Police have advised the public not to be duped by information spread on social media that a fatal accident involving a 36-year-old woman led to a riot in Taman Assam Jawa on Friday.
Selangor police criminal investigation department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said the social media posting was untrue and the man did not hit a motorcycle belonging to 36-year-old Norjunaidah Sahak in the accident which occurred on Friday at 7.30pm.
Mohd Adnan clarified that Norjunaidah was on her way home from Shah Alam to the Bukit Belimbing low-cost flats when the incident occurred. He said she was travelling along KM41 of Jalan Klang Teluk Intan and while at the junction towards Taman Assam Jawa, lost control of her motorbike while trying to avoid a car driven by the man.
“The machine skidded and hit a concrete drain. Norjunaidah was thrown off the machine and landed in a drain where she died on the spot,” he said.
Adnan said the man had helped to dial 999 and then went to a nearby restaurant to dine.
A crowd, which had mistaken the man for causing the accident, confronted the latter in front of a restaurant where some a crowd of 200 had assembled.
A police car on its rounds managed to prevent the situation from escalating.
However, a scuffle broke out when the policemen wanted to bring the man to safety into the patrol car. A police officer suffered light injuries trying to protect the man from being assaulted by the group.
Reinforcements were called from the Kuala Selangor district police operations room as the crowd became unruly and had surrounded the patrol car.
A passer-by who had filmed the incident was kicked and punched as the group thought he was related to the man, said Adnan.
The arrival of more policemen to the scene in two patrol cars calmed the situation and the crowd dispersed 10 minutes later.
Both men were brought to the police station and then to a nearby hospital where they received outpatient treatment.
Adnan said a 21-year-old man from Kuala Selangor was arrested to facilitate investigations into the case this morning.

Fatal accident leads to riot in Kuala Selangor
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13, 2015:
A fatal accident involving a Yamaha LC motorcycle and a Toyota Wish that occurred at 7.30pm on Friday led to a riot in Kuala Selangor.
The crash victim, Nurjunaidah Ishaq, 36, was on her way home from Shah Alam, when she skidded and hit a concrete drain while trying to avoid a car at the intersection of Km 21 Teluk Intan, Taman Assam Jawa in Kuala Selangor. She died on the spot.
According to Kuala Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Assistant Superintendent Ramle Bakar, the driver of the car contacted the police and parked his vehicle at a restaurant not far from the scene of the accident.
“The driver entered the restaurant and a few minutes later, a group of men who gathered at the scene of the incident approached him to ask about the incident, giving rise to a fight,” he said at a press conference today.
He said during the commotion, two police patrol cars from Kuala Selangor police headquarters arrived at the restaurant and broke up the altercation.
However, 200 people gathered in front of the restaurant and, while police were escorting the victim to the patrol car to be taken to the station, another commotion broke out as the men were not satisfied.

Driver, motorist attacked by mob following accident
The damaged Toyota Wish parked at the Kuala Selangor police headquarters. An angry mob thrashed the vehicle following an accident near Kampung Assam Jawa here on Friday.
KUALA SELANGOR: A man who stopped to film an accident was injured when an angry mob turned its attention on him.
The initial accident occurred at around 7.30pm on Friday when a female motorcyclist swerved to avoid a Toyota Wish near Kampung Assam Jawa and hit a concrete culvert.
She died on the spot while the driver of the car is reported to have stopped at a nearby restaurant to call emergency services.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said Sunday that a huge crowd of onlookers had gathered at the scene following the accident.
“Moments later a group of men came to the restaurant and confronted the 29-year-old driver of the Toyota Wish and an argument occurred.
Two police cars arrived just as the argument got heated but a scuffle ensued between police and the group, he said.
He said several policemen suffered minor injuries from their encounter with the mob before two more police cars arrived at the scene.
“By that time there were already about 200 people gathered at the scene.
“The mob then turned on another motorist also aged 29 who they believed was related to the driver,” he said, adding that that motorist had actually stopped to see what was going on and had had nothing to do with the accident.
SAC Mohd Adnan said the man suffered wounds to his head, arm and back from being beaten and kicked by the group.

Angry mob at accident scene turns on police, innocent motorist
By the time the police arrived in two cars, the crowd had grown bigger – and angrier, ostensibly at the “injustice” of the accident.
The onlookers turned on the police and a scuffle followed, during which the policemen were injured.
When backup arrived in two more police cars, the crowd turned its attention on a motorist who had stopped to look, but whom they believed to be a friend of the car driver.
They beat and kicked the man, injuring him in the head, arms and back.
Meanwhile, police arrived just as things were getting heated at the nearby eatery where the car driver had stopped to make calls.
