JAIPk to throw book at Raja Bomoh
Perak’s Islamic Religious Department to take action against Raja Bomoh following a fatwa calling his teachings deviant.
KUALA LUMPUR: Perak’s Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk) will soon be able to take action against the infamous Raja Bomoh, Ibrahim Mat Zin, once the fatwa declaring his teachings as deviant is gazetted.

In a report today by local Malay daily Sinar Harian, JAIPk department director Mohd Yusop Husin clarified that the decision to take action against Ibrahim was cemented following a meeting this week with the state fatwa council.
“The Perak Fatwa Council decided yesterday that the bomoh’s teachings were haram (illegal) and deviated from Islamic teachings,” he said.
“We at JAIPk are only waiting for the (fatwa’s) gazetting before we take action. So far, only Ibrahim has been found carrying out such superstitious practices.”

Kalah Piala Thomas sebab Khairy bodoh kata Raja Bomoh
Raja Bomoh, Datuk Mahaguru Ibrahim menyifatkan Menteri Belia Dan Sukan, Khairy Jamaluddin sebagai punca kekalahan skuad Piala Thomas dan perlu memikul tanggungjawab dengan meletakkan jawatan sebagai menteri.
Ini kerana, menurutnya kenyataan Khairy sebelum ini meminta masyarakat agar tidak meletakkan sebarang harapan kepada skuad negara itu.
“Ini kerana sejak awal-awal lagi dia telah mengatakan skuad ini tidak akan masuk ke peringkat akhir, tetapi bila dapat masuk peringkat akhir dia (cuba) ambil kesempatan (publisiti)” ujar.
Ibrahim turut meminta Khairy agar meletakkan jawatan kerana gagal menjalankan tanggungjawab sebagai seorang menteri.

Government didn’t hire ‘bomoh’ for MH370, says minister

The government did not hire or direct any party to use the services of a ‘bomoh’ (Malay medicine man) to find the missing Malaysia Airlines MH370 aircraft.
Minister in Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom also denied that the government had hired bomoh Ibrahim Mat Zin to locate the plane.
“The airport is a public space (anyone can go there). We don’t know who hired him and it’s not our business to ask him (Ibrahim),” he said while winding up the debate on the Royal address at the Dewan Rakyat here today.

PAS: Why is ‘raja bomoh’ still free to hold rituals?
MH370 PAS Youth has questioned why self-styled ‘Bomoh King’ Ibrahim Mat Zain, who gained infamy for performing a ritual at KLIA to find MH370, is still free to conduct yet another MH370-related ritual.
Referring to a video of a ritual – said to “raise the bodies” from the sea – in Pulau Sembilan, Perak, Perak PAS Youth chief Raja Ahmad Iskandar Raja Yaakob urged action against such “unIslamic” acts.
“PAS Youth is disappointed that such superstitious and syirik (polytheistic) acts are still ongoing in Perak despite Perak mufti Harussani Zakaria speaking against the Raja Bomoh…
“What is the Perak Islamic Affairs Department’s role in preventing such acts from being practiced?” he asked in a statement.

PETALING JAYA: After almost two weeks of silence, Ibrahim Mat Zin has swung back into action with his magic paraphernalia to search for passengers of the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.
A video just under three minutes long has been posted on http://www.suara.tv to show the self-styled Raja Bomoh Sedunia (World Shaman King) and his assistants performing a ritual on a beach on Pulau Sembilan in the Straits of Malacca.
Suara TV does not say when the video was recorded but it was uploaded on March 26.
The articles of wizardry used include the pair of bamboo telescopes that has become familiar to viewers all over the world since about two weeks ago, when major international news networks covered a similar ritual that Ibrahim performed at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
The ritual incorporates the Muslim call to prayer and the invocation Allahu Akbar (God is Great), but has been condemned by prominent Islamic scholars as anathema to the religion.

Missing MH370: Bomoh may sue Jakim and Khairy
KUALA LUMPUR: Controversial bomoh Ibrahim Mat Zin (pic) may file a defamation suit against Jakim Selangor and Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin for RM100mil if they don’t retract their statements against him.
“Rather than going to the public, Khairy should have come and discussed with me. I would have told him my side of the story and cleared my name again.
“I’m here to help the country not tarnish the country’s reputation.
“I’ve been doing this for many years, how can they say whatever I do is ‘haram’ (illegal) and ‘syirik’, it’s not right at all!” said Ibrahim who claimed that he has 50 years experience as a bomoh.
Ibrahim also said that because of Jakim, he is no longer able to go to the airport to continue his rituals.
“To find the plane, I need to do seven rituals but I’ve only done it twice. I was told that the authorities are there to capture me.
“Because of that, I’ve to go to other places outside of Kuala Lumpur,” adding that he is doing it out of concern for those who are missing not for fame.
Ibrahim maintains his belief that the passengers are still alive and are either in a supernatural world or have crash-landed in one of three islands.
However, he couldn’t specify which three islands they were.

KUALA LUMPUR: Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today denied that infamous bomoh Ibrahim Mat Zin was a friend of his, after the shaman had claimed that the two were companions
“I don’t know that bomoh at all. Maybe he knows me the way I know YB (Mahfuz Omar),” Zahid told the Dewan Rakyat in response to a question from the Pokok Sena MP on his alleged links to Ibrahim.
Mahfuz, when posing a supplementary question to Zahid, had quipped: “I must be careful when asking questions to the home minister because he is a khalifah (vicegerent) to the martial arts bomoh for Flight MH370.
“I am afraid that if I ask the question wrongly, he will slap me like a crocodile,” said Mahfuz, to laughter from the MPs in Parliament.
But without missing a beat, Zahid shot back that one of the assistants originated from Pokok Sena, Mahfuz’s own constituency.
“The one who rowed must be from Pokok Sena! You can check! You can check! I am worried that his own guru is Pokok Sena MP,” the Umno vice-president retorted with a chuckle.

The word “bomoh” is trending worldwide and has been tweeted more than 200,000 times, with the most obvious sentiment expressed being shame, the BBC reported.
“It’s so embarrassing to have ‘Malaysia’ and ‘Bomoh’ in the same sentence,” tweeted one.
“Stupid, shameful” and “ignorant”, others tweeted back to BBC Trending, the BBC said.
The tweets were in response to the bomoh who showed up at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport twice, initially claiming that he was invited by a government leader to help solve the mystery of the missing flight MH370, although he later said he was there on his own will.

Bomoh threatens to sue those who accuse him of deviant practices

The bomoh, who showed up at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport twice to conduct rituals to locate the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, has threatened to sue any party who claimed that his actions were against Islamic law.
Ibrahim Mat Zin, who has been attempting to locate the missing jet, said the ceremony he performed on Monday was according to Islamic law.
During his ritual at the airport, Ibrahim said he used holy words from the Quran.
“The relics which I used were merely symbolic and had been passed down by previous generations. It is not for worshipping,” he told Utusan Malaysia.
“I hope that the public does not accuse me of practising deviant teachings,” he told the Umno mouthpiece.
Ibrahim said those who continued to accuse him of deviant practices would face legal action.

Missing MH370: Bomoh uses ‘magic carpet’ to find Boeing

SEPANG: Bomoh Ibrahim Mat Zin held a second session of rituals on Wednesday in efforts to help locate the missing Malaysia Airlines Boeing plane.
Ibrahim, who calls himself Raja Bomoh Sedunia Nujum VIP with the title of Datuk Mahaguru, conducted the rituals at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
He was accompanied by several assistants who helped in the rituals using “Zam-Zam” water, two coconuts, a “magical” walking stick and carpet.
The session that was held at the Anjung Tinjau of KLIA attracted a crowd of people.
“The purpose of the rituals is to weaken the bad spirits so that the rescuers can find the plane if it indeed had crashed,” he told reporters.
