Korea-bound Malaysia Airlines Airbus diverted due to electrical fault
HONG KONG – A Malaysia Airlines flight carrying 271 people from Malaysia to South Korea on Monday was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Hong Kong after a technical fault involving an onboard generator, the airline said.
…
Flight MH066 departed from Kuala Lumpur at 11.37 p.m. (1537 GMT Sunday) bound for Seoul’s Incheon airport. The flight, however, was diverted to Hong Kong’s international airport where it landed safely at around 3 a.m., the airline said.
Malaysia Airlines said the Airbus A330-300 jet was diverted because of an inoperative generator. There was no loss of power because an auxiliary generator took over.
All 271 passengers were transferred to other carriers, the airline said, while the return flight from Incheon to Kuala Lumpur was canceled. Passengers have been transferred to other flights for the return leg.

NEW DELHI, March 23– A Malaysia Airlines (MAS) aircraft ferrying 180 passengers and crew ‘ducked’ away from a potential disaster when a flock of ducks struck the aircraft’s windshield during touchdown on the runway of the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Friday night.
According to a report, the impact left the southern tip of Runway 02 strewn with broken glass, Nepal’s news portal kantipuronline.com. quoted airport authorities as saying on Saturday.
There was no report of injury on board the Kathmandu-bound MH-144 aircraft from Kuala Lumpur in the incident which occurred at 10.45pm.
The airline’s cockpit crew, however, did not immediately inform the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) of the incident.
The flight captain later confirmed “suspected bird-hit”, but only after a Jet Airways crew reported it to the airport authority, said the report.
It is understood the MAS pilots might face action for failing to report the incident on time.

“The aircraft was grounded for the night and the broken lens was subsequently replaced,” it said.
However, the airline denied reports that the collision caused the aircraft’s windshield to be break.
The confirmation only came two days, following a Kathmandu Post report today quoting airport officials about the incident.

However, Malaysia Airlines has released a statement confirming the incident, but denying that the windshields were shattered.
“Upon landing, the aircraft was inspected by the engineer on duty. It was found that the aircraft’s landing light lens cover was broken. The aircraft was grounded for the night and the broken lens was subsequently replaced,” Malaysia Airlines said.
“Please note that it was not the windshield that was broken as reported,” it added.
