*ANWAR ON HIS CONVICTION
Anwar stressed that he has been made the real victim as a result of the conviction.
“Yes I’m the victim. You can see the conduct, there is no reference to the facts in the law. The judges follow strictly the script given to you. This is a criminal trial. You mean to say it’s beyond reasonable doubt (leading to this conviction)?,” he asked.
He warned that the government has not learnt the wrath of the people.
*ANWAR ON THE CONDUCT OF THE JUDGES
Anwar also did not mince his words on the conduct of the judges in the prosecution’s appeal, describing them as pathetic.
“It is pathetic to see the conduct of the judges behaving in this manner,” he said.
Look at Justice Aziah Ali, Anwar said she clearly could not control herself.
“She showed so much venom and anger. She is not fit to be a judge. She fixed the date in the hearing of the appeal and not the deputy registrar in this case.

*The three-member Court of Appeal panel was headed by judge Aziah Ali. The other members are justices Rohana Yusuff and Mohd Zawawi Mohd Salleh.
*Did you know that Mohd Zawawi Mohd Salleh was also one of the judges in the ‘Allah’ case?
The final implication of the Court of Appeal judgement is that Judge Mohd Zawawi Salleh has likely set a precedent in intervening into the religious affairs of a faith community. How so? His judgment involves an elaboration of why the translation of “Elohim” into “Allah” for the Arabic Bible is problematic. Absurdly enough, his expert opinion turned out to copied and pasted from internet references.

Allah issue – Grounds of judgment by Judge Datuk Mohd Zawawi Salleh
JUDGMENT OF MOHD ZAWAWI SALLEH, JCA
[1] I have had the advantage of reading in draft the judgments prepared by my learned brothers, Mohamed Apandi Ali, JCA (now FCJ) and Abdul Aziz Abd Rahim, JCA. I agree with them both, and for the reasons which they give, I too would allow this appeal. In view, however, of the importance of the case, I would like to add a few observations of my own on the issue whether the usage of the word “Allah” in the “Herald – the Catholic Weekly” (“the Herald”) is an essential and integral part of the religion of Christianity.

Stay granted, Anwar walks free… for now

The atmosphere was tense with Anwar Ibrahim looking at the possibility of having to spend the next three nights in prison after being slapped with a five-year sentence for Sodomy II this evening.
However, the Court of Appeal allowed a stay of execution pending an appeal with the Federal Court and ordered Anwar to post the RM10,000 bail by 11am on Monday.
Prior to sentencing, Anwar had described the development as deja vu.
“The 1998 incident is repeating itself… It is all over again, they want to put me in the lock-up. That is why they want to continue with the mitigation,” added the 67-year-old politician.
When the Court of Appeal announced its verdict in upholding the prosecution’s appeal, Anwar’s wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and the couple’s children, including Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah, could not hold back their tears.

Anwar out of Kajang polls
PKR supremo Anwar Ibrahim will not be able to contest the Kajang by-election on March 23 as his Sodomy II conviction disqualifies him as a candidate.
PKR vice-president N Surendran said since Anwar has been convicted, “disqualification cannot be avoided”.
Article 47 of the federal constitution states that an individual who is convicted will not be qualified to be a candidate if the conviction includes a prison term of more than a year, or a fine above RM 2,000.
This is also stated in the Election Commission’s (EC) guidebook for election candidates.
Despite the stay, Anwar appears to be, at least b

‘With me behind bars, PKR is stronger’
Human Rights Watch says the government was prepared to do whatever it took to knock Anwar out of politics.
PUTRAJAYA: PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, 67, told reporters today that his party would continue to be stronger even if he was imprisoned.
“Kajang will be stronger, inshaAllah. My party will be able to consolidate further because the boss is in trouble,” he laughed.
“The beauty of this is that it’s not just (about) Anwar, it’s a struggle. So you want to cut off Anwar, you put Anwar in prison, then the party, the movement becomes stronger.
“You deny Anwar the seat, and I believe inshaAllah Kajang people will fight back and I will be there everyday to campaign.”
Anwar appeared unfazed by the five year prison sentence against him, and was optimistic that the struggle for reformasi would be stronger than ever.
He said “they” had apparently not learned from the wrath of the people.
When asked if he believed he was a victim in this case, Anwar said yes.
“You can see the conduct, no reference to the facts in the law. Follow strictly the script given to you. This is a criminal trial. You mean to say it’s beyond reasonable doubt?”
