Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad tonight said it was Istana Negara that decided on former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak’s seating arrangement, and he was not involved in the matter.

This is after Najib claimed his seat was changed at the last minute, resulting in him not turning up at the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong’s installation ceremony on Tuesday.

“That was his seat. It was arranged by the palace, not me,” the prime minister told journalists in Putrajaya today.

Mujahid refutes claim Najib’s seat at royal event changed at last minute

The seat for former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak at the installation of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Tuesday had been determined and not moved at the last minute as claimed, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mujahid Yusof Rawa (photo, above).

Mujahid, who was chairperson of the Special Committee on the Installation Ceremony of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, said he had given an official reply to Najib on the allegation.
.
“The issue was not that it had been moved. The issue (Najib’s seat) had been determined. Then Najib himself had given the excuse that he had to be seated at the place for ‘Orang Besar Pahang’. He had to change attire. That is his problem. We have informed (him) much earlier,” said Mujahid.

PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Najib Razak did not attend the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s installation ceremony today following confusion over seating arrangements.

Earlier, a Facebook user from Terengganu had claimed that Najib’s seat was changed as another individual allegedly did not want to be seated near the Pekan MP.

Abdul Rahim Hilmi Zakariya said the protocol by the palace dictates that Najib be seated four chairs away from Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Rahim said the alleged attempt to change the seating arrangements was disrespectful and reeked of arrogance.

“It is unstatesmanlike,” he wrote on Facebook.

He went on to claim that Najib was moved to another seat reserved for the “Orang Besar Pahang”.

When contacted, an aide confirmed that Najib did not attend the installation after finding out about the change in seating arrangements.

“But we will wait for Datuk Seri’s response,” he told FMT.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s Office said it was not involved in the seating arrangements.

“The seating arrangements and protocol are under the palace,” the office said.

Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah was earlier today installed as the  16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Terima kasih DS Najib Razak. Saya difahamkan tuan mengalah kerana tidak mahu upacara besar ini tertangguh disebabkan nafsu sesetengah manusia.

Tuan memperoleh lagi rasa hormat saya

The ceremony of the coronation’s funeral that is the highest ceremony of the country that is the highest ceremony of the country that beyond any Any politicians who do not respect this ceremony because the revenge with other politicians is considered a savage against royal institutions.

Palace protocols have determined that the former Prime Minister’s position is at 10th position while the prime minister in the 6. th position of the jesteru, each position is nearby (HUGE) on the status of the position they hold / ever held.

The same as the Prime Minister’s post and the opposition chief in Parliament. So fed up, these two post holders need to sit against each other in the house of the people’s hall.

Any try to change the position of the dignitaries during the coronation ceremony just because the a doesn’t want to see the b’s face showing his respect and arrogant. That’s not the attitude of the statesman.

The one who is good at changing the former Prime Minister’s position at the end so that sitting behind the capacity as pahang’s big people are also as stupid as pahang. Pahang big people’s clothes and which former Prime Minister’s clothes are the same. Every position has its protocols. Do you think this is the dress going to mydin?

Thank you ds Najib Razak. I understand that you give up because you don’t want this big ceremony to be delayed due to some people’s desires.
