The latest report by The Wall Street Journal on prime minister’s wife Rosmah Mansor’s spending is akin to a “terrorist attack” on Malaysia, says MIC treasurer-general S Vell Paari.

Vell Paari said the report, which claimed that Rosmah spent US$6 million on clothes, shoes and jewellery over seven years, undermines national sovereignty.

Questioning the US financial daily’s motives, he said the report is “nothing short of a lie”.

“I would not be surprised that after this, WSJ would then come out with an expose that the US$600 million from the Saudi Royal government was actually channelled into (Rosmah’s) credit card account. Because that is what WSJ does best. It writes fiction.

“In my opinion, the attacks from WSJ on this country are a form of a terrorist attack on Malaysia, by trying to destroy this country politically and economically,” Vell Paari said in a statement today.
