Johor crown prince #TMJ urged to intervene in critic’s jailing https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/344489

…
Student group Challenger has pleaded for Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim to intervene in the jailing of Muhammad Amirul Azwan Mohd Shakri.
The 19-year-old is currently serving a one-year jail sentence after pleading guilty to 14 counts of intentionally insulting the crown prince.
He was charged and sentenced under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
In an open letter today, Challenger spokesperson Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahmad urged Tunku Ismail to show magnanimity.
“We seek your assent to forgive Muhammad Amirul and do everything in your power to secure his freedom, such as by pardoning him or lobbying against Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
“We seek your assent to prove to Malaysians once again you are a leader who does as he preaches.
“We seek your assent to once again show an example to Malaysian leaders by being the bigger and better person,” the letter said.
Syed Saddiq said the group did not deny Muhammad Amirul’s actions were unwarranted.
But freedom of speech should not be restricted simply because it was considered offensive, he said.
Challenger also praised Tunku Ismail for having previously defended his critics and for urging the police not to arrest them.
The past few weeks have seen a spate of arrests and prosecution, with action being taken against at least four people for posting comments critical of Tunku Ismail on social media.

Teenager gets one-year jail sentence for insulting TMJ
Amirul, 19, pleaded guilty to all the charges read against him in front of the Johor Baru Sessions Court judge Sabariah Atan, as reported by Sinar Harian today.
According to the charge sheet, the teenager from Tumpat, Kelantan was alleged to have made those insulting comments through Facebook under the pseudonym ‘Miyo Castello’ between March and April with the intention to offend Tunku Ismail.
He was charged under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, where upon conviction, one can be fined not more than RM50,000 or jailed not more than one year or both.
Amirul, who works as a labourer, had requested in his appeal for the court to lighten his sentence as he is from a poor family and promised not to commit the offence again.
However, deputy public prosecutor Nor Azizah Mohamad asked the court to give him a harsher sentence as it is a serious offence of contempt against Tunku Ismail, who will become the next Johor sultan.
Sabariah then sentenced the teenager to a one-year jail term from the date he was arrested on April 28.

No orders on men who allegedly insulted TMJ
The Tunku Mahkota Johor has reminded police not to arrest anyone who commented against him.
KUALA LUMPUR: There have been no orders from the prosecutor on whether to press charges against two men who allegedly insulted Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, the Tengku Mahkota Johor, on social media.
Lawyer Faiz Fadzli Noor said there have been no directions to charge Mahsyur Abdullah and Aiden Chew under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
“I met Aiden on Thursday. His remand will end tomorrow (June 4),” said Faiz.
The lawyer added that it would be “unnecessary” to press charges against both men. “There are no criminal implications in their social media postings.”
“Tunku Mahkota has also reminded the police not to arrest anyone who commented against him,” he said. “If the police respect the Tengku Mahkota, all detainees should be freed.”

TMJ: Don’t arrest those who make seditious remarks against me
PETALING JAYA: Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has asked the police not to arrest those who make allegedly seditious remarks against him, but rather, arrange a face-to-face meeting between them instead.
“I would prefer it if the authorities can organise a meeting for me to meet with these people and give them the privilege of saying what they want to say to my face, man to man,” the Johor Crown Prince said in a statement posted on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page on Monday.
He said that he knew about the incident, but could not do anything as someone else lodged the police report against the suspect.
A Pahang football fan, Masyhur Abdullah, 29, was recently arrested for allegedly insulting Tunku Ismail, the owner of the Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) football club, on Twitter.
He claimed that they are pages in social media that are paid to instigate the people to fight and quarrel amongst themselves so that their attention was diverted away from issues that truly matter.
“This enables the people in big organisations and in power to implement their mission without the people even knowing. The people should judge for themselves.
I’m lucky as I am in the position to hear and see with my own eyes and ears what these people in big organisations are orchestrating without the knowledge of the people,” he said.

Mana pergi penjilat TMJ n JDT tadi. Hehehe..
If don’t want to be insulted, get out of football. Bring once the flag country and the spirit of that far away from football.
