Football: Goalkeeper hospitalised after lightning strike in Malaysia http://ebx.sh/1V8Ohxk

…
Stefan Petrovski, of mixed Malaysian and Australian heritage, was hit along with 21-year-old defender Muhd Afiq Azuan as they left training with second tier Melaka United on Tuesday and were rushed to hospital.
“He (Petrovski) received initial treatment at the emergency unit. After that, he was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit for further treatment,” Malacca Hospital director Dr Za’aba Baba was quoted as saying by The Sun on Wednesday. “His condition is stable and his breathing is supported with a ventilator.”
Team manager Khairi Anuar Ahmad told the Star newspaper Afiq was “conscious and in stable condition”.
He added that 29 players were at the youth training session when the incident happened with goalkeeper coach Rosli Hashim and physiotherapist Ahmad Faisal Miswanthat fortunate to escape injury.
A sudden thunderstorm was blamed for the incident whereby Melaka United Soccer Association – MUSA youth players, Afiq Azwan and Stefan Petrovski were struck by lightning.

As you all have known, the hot weather nowadays are in the extreme conditions including in Malacca with the temperature rising to 34-35 degree celsius. At the start of the training which started at 4pm, the weather was fine without a single raindrop until around 4.30pm where a light drizzle occurred but it did not affect the training session. Suddenly a heavy downpour started around 5pm that made the coach decided to stop the training session. As the players are leaving the field, the first lightning struck around 5.05pm accompanied by a loud sound of the thunder and it hit a group of our defence players, physios and our goalkeeping coach who that time are at the goalpost area. The closest to the lightning strike are Stefan and Afiq Azwan. It happened so quickly in a blink of an eye just after the moment where their coach instructed them to stop the training session.
Stefan who was left unconscious was quickly given CPR by our physio who was also affected by the lightning strike. All of them were quickly sent to the hospital and we informed their parents and even Stefan’s who are abroad. This incident was reported to the police. It happened without a warning as it is god’s will. The only thing we could do now is to ensure them being given the best medical care with the support from the Chief Minister who came to visit and asked about their conditions from the doctors in charge. Together we pray for Stefan’s and Afiq’s good health. Amin.
