PUTRAJAYA: The personal bodyguard of a businessman who was seriously injured when shot by two men at Chaterfield, Downtown KLIA in Sepang yesterday, was reported to be in stable condition.

It was learnt that the victim was operated on at Putrajaya Hospital at noon today to remove the bullets from his right shoulder.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department head Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said police were still investigating the motive of the incident.

“The victim is also still in shock and cannot give a true picture of the suspects.

“What is important at the moment is to ensure he is in a real stable condition and safe, and only then will we get his statement,” he said when contacted here today.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police recovered 9mm spent cartridges from a shooting incident near Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) yesterday, and refuted claims that gunmen used an M16 rifle in the attack.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said there were rumours claiming that the gunmen had used rifles but slugs found proved otherwise.

“The weapons could be pistols or guns put into casings that looks like a rifle. We are investigating the case from all angles including (from the standpoint of) the victim…on why he was chosen out of so many people,” he told reporters during a press conference at police college in Cheras here.
