The hyenas and coyotes wait around while the vultures circle above the bungalow of Lim Guan Eng…
KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 — Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Shabudin Yahaya should be made to take reporters on a tour of his home much like how Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng did this morning, DAP MP Lim Lip Eng said.
The Segambut MP offered his sympathies to Guan Eng and his family, who he said lost the privacy of their home because of Shabudin, but lauded the chief minister for daring to invite the media into his home to prove he had nothing to hide.
Lip Eng then suggested that all Barisan Nasional (BN) mentris besar and chief ministers do the same and organise media tours of their respective homes, saying this would be to prove that they were living according to their means.
“At the very least, for the sake of journalistic fairness, the media should ask the Tasek Gelugor MP cum Penang Regional Development Authority chairman whose job revolves around constructing homes in the state anyway, to allow them to visit his home.
“Perhaps Shabudin would at the very least dare to face the media lenses, even if he didn’t dare this morning to face Guan Eng and repeat his slanderous accusation outside the Dewan Rakyat,” Lip Eng said.

Penang CM takes media on tour of his bungalow amid row
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who is under siege over his purchase of a bungalow on Jalan Pinhorn, Penang, decided to invite the press to the property in question.
During a press conference in Komtar today, Lim was asked when he would be inviting the press to his house for a tour.
He replied, “Let’s go now.”
Later, at his home on Jalan Pinhorn, Lim escorted the media to his living room, dining hall and kitchen.
The built-up area of the house – which has five rooms – is about 4,000 sq ft.
Lim is facing accusations from Umno that he had bought the bungalow at RM2.8 million below market value.
The house appeared to be rather narrow when packed with about 20 journalists and photographers.
Lim said this the first time that a CM had opened his house for public scrutiny.
He wondered aloud: “Would the other CM or menteri besar do as I did? I am the only CM who is willing to do so”.
Later, during a press conference outside the house, Lim said the bungalow is an ordinary unit although he cannot deny that it is situated in a upper middle class area.
Lim said Umno kicked a fuss regarding the price of the house but the RM2.8 million was verbally agreed between him and the seller in 2012.
“I did not buy the house at the time because I was not sure I would be in office (after the 2013 national polls),” Lim said.
Accompanying Lim during the tour of the house was his wife Betty Chew.
Asked how she felt about the house being exposed to public scrutiny, Chew said it had to be done “in the interest of transparency”.
“I hope people would be able to see now, if we lived in luxury as alleged,” she added.

Fatimah Ahmad CM Lim Guan Eng. I think you are an excellent effective leader who lead by example, with honesty, confidence, compassion, intelligence and humour. You have many great leadership traits such as loyalty, empathy, accountability, duty and determination, energy and encouragement, respect, selflessness, honourable and humble, integrity and innovation, passion and pride in your work. Your invitation to the journalists and your accuser to visit your house have touched the hearts of many – of how sincere and innocent you are. Kit Siang: Let the press look over LGE bungalow
DAP supremo contrasts his son’s RM2.8mil bungalow with Khir Toyo’s mansion in Shah Alam.
PETALING JAYA: The DAP’s supremo, Lim Kit Siang, has suggested that the press be allowed to inspect the controversial RM2.8 million bungalow of his son, Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng.
Kit Siang, speaking at the party’s 50th anniversary celebrations, said the press could compare the house to that bought by former Selangor Menteri Besar Mohd Khir Toyo, sentenced to jail for corruption over the purchase of the RM20 million mansion.
Malaysiakini reported that Kit Siang showed photos of Khir’s home in Shah Alam. Referring to his son by his party position, he said: “Our secretary-general is under siege for corruption. All reports appear to suggest that people have the impression that the house is comparable to Khir Toyo’s. So perhaps Guan Eng should open the house to the press so people can compare,” he added.
When Guan Eng made his address, he said he was embarrassed at having his house compared to Khir Toyo’s mansion in Shah Alam, Malaysiakini reported.
Lim sought a two-storey bungalow on 10,000 sq ft of land at Jalan Pinhorn, off Green Lane, in George Town which he has rented since he became chief minister. “Mine is an old house which was built 30 years ago,” Lim said.
In response to his father’s suggestion for a press inspection, he said he would need to consult his wife. “She told me she wanted a home which has privacy only for the family, so I must ask her,” he was quoted as saying.

Beli rumah dapat ‘diskaun’ harga RM2.8juta tapi jual tanah menyebabkan kerugian sampai RM11juta. Sepandai-pandai Lim Guan Eng kelentong, akhirnya kantoi juga
On Thursday, Barisan Nasional’s Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Shabudin Yahaya claimed that the house, on 10,161 sq ft (943.98 sq metres) of land, was bought by Lim on Oct 25 last year for RM2.8mil when its market value was between RM6mil and RM6.5mil.
On Friday, the MACC in a press statement said it did not open a file in the previous case but the present one was a “new revelation.”
It said the previous investigation only involved the tenancy of the house and not of the purchase.

Parti Cinta Malaysia today lodged a police report over the purchase of a bungalow by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng allegedly below market price.
Its president, Datuk Huan Cheng Guan, called on the authorities to investigate the allegation raised by Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Shabudin Yahaya in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.
Huan claimed that Lim’s bungalow of more than 10,000 sq ft in size was bought in 2015 for RM2.8 million when a bungalow of about 5,000 sq ft there was sold for RM3.6 million two years ago.
Speaking to reporters after making the report at the Perai police station, he said his party also sought an investigation into the sale of land in Taman Manggis in George Town that was originally reserved for construction of houses for the hardcore poor.
Meanwhile, the People’s Alternative Party called on the authorities to investigate the purchase of the bungalow by Lim.

Beli rumah RM2.8 juta, KM pelawa Shabudin Yahaya bersemuka
Press Conference Statement By Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng In Komtar, George Town On18.3.2016.
Invites PERDA Chair And Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Shabudin Yahaya To A One-on-One “Seek Truth From Facts” Meeting With Me Alone In My Komtar Office On 11 am 20 March Sunday In Front Of The Mass Media.
First, I regret that some sections of the press are making up inaccurate stories published today, when I had not spoken to them. For this reason I am coming out with a written press statement to avoid any misinterpretation or wilful misrepresentation.
I read in the Malaysiakini yesterday that allegations of corruption were made against me in the Dewan Rakyat by PERDA Chair and Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Shabudin Yahaya, where he linked the purchase of my house to the 2012 sale of government land in Taman Manggis to private developers building a private hospital and hotel. These allegations are false and baseless.
I want to see what facts Datuk Shabudin possesses to make such allegations. I have nothing to hide. I wish to invite Datuk Shabudin Yahaya to a one-on-one “seek truth from facts” meeting with me alone in my Komtar office on 11 am 20 March Sunday in front of the mass media.
After 7 years as Penang Chief Minister, I have finally bought a house in Penang. My house, a double-storey bungalow in Pinhorn Road, is more than 30 years old. I bought my house for RM2.8 million on 28 July 2015, not from a private developer but from a private individual. I paid for the purchase by taking a RM2.1 million bank loan, with the balance of RM700,000 paid in cash, based on what I received as Chief Minister and elected representative.
Shabudin made claims that the value of my house is higher. However, this is an arms-length transaction between me and the seller on a willing buyer and willing seller basis. The seller is a private individual through sub-sale, and not a housing developer. As long as there is no coercion or undue influence, this contract for sale of the house is just like a marriage – it is up to both sides to decide what is the right price or who is the right partner.
Malaysiakini reported that Shabudin linked the house purchase to the 2012 sale of state government land in Taman Manggis to private developers who want to build a private hospital. He further claimed that the Taman Manggis land was meant for low cost housing, implying that the low price of my house, was part of a kickback.
This is not the first time that such a false allegation of corruption relating to the Taman Manggis land has been made. The former Penang UMNO Youth Chief and Bagan UMNO Chief, Shaik Hussein Mydin on 19 August 2015 had to withdraw his offending statements and verbally apologised to me twice in the Penang High Court Judge’s chambers after I sued him for defamation.
It is untrue to link my house purchase in 2015 to the 2012 sale of government land in Taman Manggis, when the sale of government land was conducted by open competitive tender. Is there anything wrong in selling the land to the highest bidder? The private developer who won the bid by open competitive tender, won because it gave the best and highest price. The seller of my house was not involved in the company that won the bid for the land and is not a director or shareholder of the company. Furthermore the Penang state tender committee is not chaired by me but chaired by the Penang State Secretary.
The state government has no knowledge that the Taman Manggis land was earmarked for low-cost housing. To encourage medical tourism, the state government decided to offer the land for a specialist hospital. The allegations by BN of the Taman Manggis land issue is an old lie played up by BN before the 2013 general elections.
Implying corruption without any basis, truth or facts is character assassination to destroy me politically by trying to equate me with BN. As long as Datuk Shabudin restricts his comments to within the walls of Parliament, he enjoys parliamentary immunity from legal defamation. As a PERDA Chairman he should seek truth from facts to show proof that I am corrupt.
For this reason, I invite him to have a one-to-one meeting at 11 am Sunday 20 March 2016 in front of the media, to counter each other with facts and figures. From this one-to-one meeting, Malaysians can then judge for themselves who is telling the truth, who is clean and who is making a wild, irresponsible and baseless personal attacks.
LIM GUAN ENG

MACC to open investigation paper on Lim GuanEng over bungalow
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is expected to open an investigation paper (IP) on Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng over his alleged purchase of a bungalow at an undervalued price.
As reported by Bernama, a reliable source said the IP would be opened under the MACC Act 2009, “for allegedly receiving a bribe from a party with interest”.
“We received a number of reports on the issue today and we are waiting to see whether there are more to come.
“We would normally open an IP as soon as possible in cases like this and we will investigate regardless of who the individual is,” he told Bernama.

Guan Eng: New allegation will be proven to be lies
He said this was because the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) did not announce any cause for action in its previous investigation against him involving tenancy on the house.
Lim, who is DAP secretary-general, claimed that he was never called for questioning by the anti-graft body.
“I find it strange when the MACC said they had conducted an investigation on me in 2009.
“If that was the case, why didn’t they make any public announcement that this was all a baseless allegation?” Lim said in a statement on Saturday.
Lim called on the MACC to expedite its investigation on the allegation that he purchased a house at below market value as he was confident that there was no element of corruption.
Bungalow was bought on willing buyer-willing seller basis – Guan Eng
GEORGE TOWN: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today claimed that he had bought his bungalow in Jalan Pinhorn here for RM2.8 million on a willing buyer-willing seller basis.
The 30-year-old double-storey bungalow was bought from a private owner, he said.
“I took a bank loan of RM2.1 million and paid the remaining RM700,000 in cash based on my income as the chief minister and an elected representative,” he told a news conference at Komplek Tun Abdul Razak (Komtar) here.
Lim had read out a statement at the press conference and declined to take questions.
He likened the contract of sale of the house to a marriage, saying it was left to the two sides to determine the (house) price or (marriage) partner.
Lim was responding to Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Shabudin Yahaya’s request yesterday to the Department of Valuation and Property Services to undertake a valuation on the bungalow which he claimed was worth more than RM3 million.
Shabudin also asked the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate an allegation of the sale of several lots of land in Penang originally reserved for the construction of houses for the hardcore poor.
