IPOH: A father and son, who were earlier today released under the Prevention of Crime Act (POCA) 1959 for their suspected involvement in the murder of four people since 2012, have been ordered to be detained at two separate institutions.
State Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Goh Kok Liang said the 58-year-old man would be sent to the Simpang Renggam detention camp while his 21-year-old son would be detained at the Kluang detention camp for two years.
“The Crime Prevention Board decided on the matter at 9pm today and it will take effect immediately,” he said.
The two suspects were earlier released from their remand order after it expired today.
The father and son, who were remanded under POCA, were however ordered to be monitored through tracking devices fitted on them.
The order was given by Sessions Court judge Murtazadi Amran following an application by Deputy Public Prosecutor Harris Ong Mohd Jeffery Ong.

Tapah murders suspects rearrested after remand ends
TAPAH: A father and son were rearrested after they were released from remand in connection with the murder investigations of four people here.
The 57-year-old mechanic and his eldest son, 20, were rearrested under Section 3(1) of the Prevention of Crime Act 1959 (2012) that allows a police officer to arrest any person on grounds that would justify holding an inquiry into the case.
State crime chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Goh Kok Liang said the duo were released on Tuesday based on the advice of the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office.
“This is because the identities of the murder victims could not be determined
“The chemist report did not show any DNA from the bone fragments and other items that were sent for analysis,” he said in a statement.
SAC Goh added that police would heed the advice of the state prosecution unit head to continue looking for evidence in connection with the murders.
Last Thursday, the suspect’s wife, 54, and their disabled son, aged 17, who had also been remanded in connection with the murders, were released due to lack of evidence against them.

Perak vet director: Dogs do not eat human meat
Really? Dogs don’t human meat?

Former jeweller, 61, who ‘suddenly died from accidental overdose’ was eaten by her own dogs after lying undiscovered for days
A woman who died suddenly was eaten by her pet dogs after her body lay undiscovered for days, an inquest was told.
Noelle Baynham was found by a close friend who let himself in after she failed to answer the door.
The body had been partially eaten by the Jack Russell and Staffordshire Bull Terrier, which are initially thought to have tried to wake her before becoming desperate for food.
It is believed the 61-year-old from Winchester, Hampshire, collapsed and died following an accidental overdose of medication.
However a pathologist could not determine the exact cause of death because the dogs, who were trapped in the house, ate parts of her vital organs.
…
The dogs were subsequently put down on the advice of police officers.

Perak vet director: Dogs do not eat human meat
IPOH: Dogs do not eat human meat, says Perak Veterinary Department director Dr Norlizan Mohd Noor.
He said the claim that the suspects in the Tapah murder case had fed their pet dogs with the meat of their victims was not possible.
“Dogs are clever animals. They do not eat human flesh. However, the animals might be trained to bite people for those used as watchdogs,” he said when contacted here Friday.
Dr Norlizan said the pet dogs of the suspects were trained as watchdogs to guard the heavy vehicle workshop at Jalan Pahang, Tapah, where the alleged murders took place.
He was commenting on reports in several newspapers which claimed that the pet dogs belonging to the suspects were fed with human meat.

Fear grips Tapah residents over four murders
TAPAH, Nov 4 — Gripped by fear, local residents are worried for their safety over the chilling disclosure by Tapah police that a local mechanic and his family were linked to the brutal killings of at least, four people.
According to a private medical practitioner, the fear could stem from the fact that Tapah is seeing its first case of multiple murders.
Met here today, Dr Bajan Singh said he was aware many people thought twice about venturing out at night, in view of the multiple murders.
He said one of the four people alleged to have been murdered was a farmer and broker in Chenderiang whom he knew for 25 years. The doctor last met the man on Aug 20 this year.
“On that day, the man came with his son who wanted to have a health check-up before pursuing further studies in India.
“Later, when the man was reported missing, I thought he was involved in a road accident or had a heart attack.
“We looked for him all over the place, especially at an oil palm plantation where he was harvesting fruit but failed to locate him.
“He simply disappeared into thin air…until we received news that he could be one of the four victims of the cruel killings,” he said.

Foul smell from mechanic’s shop raised suspicions
By Farahin Mh Noor
farahin@mmail.com.my
TAPAH — A scrapyard operator said an awful smell had come from the mechanic shop-cum-house occupied by the mechanic and his family last year but that his neighbour had said it was from tyres being burnt.
The man in his 50s said he was suspicious about the explanation but did not take the matter any further.
“He told me he was burning tyres but I suspected something amiss but dropped the matter,” he said.
The businessman, who has been living there for 10 years, said he knew very little about the mechanic and his family although their paths occasionally crossed.
“Just like other villagers, we seldom talked to each other, but whenever we met, we chatted,” he said.
The mechanic’s landlord, who only wanted to be known as Lan, said he had been renting the house to the mechanic since 2002.
He said the man was generally unsociable and did not talk to neighbours.
“I would only pay him a visit to collect the monthly rental which he would not pay sometimes. I would usually let him pay later as he complained he was always short of money,” he said.
Lan said a large pack of dogs always guarded the house, which he found peculiar.

Four murders, bodies burnt and dumped in river
IPOH: Four people were murdered, their bodies burnt and their ashes and bones thrown into a river at a workshop in Tapah near here.
The murders started with a 57-year-old man who was reported missing on Oct 30, 2012. After that, a tour bus operator, 56, went missing on March 1, 2014 followed by a vehicle spare parts dealer, 54, also last year.
The latest in the murders was a 46-year-old land broker, who was reported missing by his son on Aug 25 after he left the house in Kampung Sungai Lah, Chenderiang in the morning and never returned.
Perak deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Hasnan Hassan said the victims were murdered and their bodies burnt at the workshop in Tapah. Their ashes and bones were later thrown into a river to conceal the murders.
Police now believe that they have solved the murders in connection with the missing persons reports on the four.
On Oct 26, they nabbed a family comprising a 57-year-old mechanic, his wife, 54, and their two children aged 17 and 20, at their house in Tapah, some 55km from here.
DCP Hasnan said the murders were believed to have taken place between 2012 and this year.

Bongkar Misteri Orang Hilang Di Tapah
