Serial attacker terrorising Johor for five months nabbed
JOHOR BARU: A serial attacker terrorising the public in a five-month spree involving 26 incidents has been arrested by police in Taman Johor Jaya here.
Johor police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Rusli Ahmad said on Thursday that the man was suspected to be involved in 26 cases, with the most recent happening on Aug 31.
He said that the suspect would use chemicals such as thinner on his victims before assaulting them with weapons such as stones, glass bottles and rods.
“The police set up a special task force to track him down and we eventually we spotted a man riding a blue-coloured Yamaha Lagenda along Jalan Dedap 13 in Taman Johor Jaya at around 9pm on Sept 1.
“Initial checks on the man found that he was wanted for a murder case at Jinjang in Sentul last year,” he said.

He added that a team of officers then raided the suspect’s rented house along Jalan Keembong 12 where they recovered four iron rods, four helmets and clothes.
“The suspect works at a iron manufacturing workshop, which may explain how he got his hands on the rod.
“He admitted he was the one behind the attacks, which he claimed was due to voices in his head telling him to do it. We will send the suspect for a mental evaluation,” he said.

Police confirmed that a 39-year-old man, also wanted by the police for murder, was arrested.
After his arrest, he admitted all crimes to the police and noted that due to “the devil” speaking in his ear, he would go to hurt people.

One man appears suddenly and without warning, attacks his intended victim. There are 23 victims so far.
The attacks have been around Taman Johor Jaya and Taman Desa Cemerlang.

Lone assailant going around attacking people
JOHOR BARU: About 22 people including school students and senior citizens were injured by a lone assailant who attacked them with bottles and a helmet.
In some cases, the man who wore a helmet, even splashed vinegar and diesel before fleeing the scene.
The latest cases happened on Thursday when a 14-year-old student who was walking to her school was attacked with a bottle at 7am while another woman, in her 70s, was attacked with a helmet.
Both victims suffered injuries to their head.

..Chew Shuh Yuan, 43, said her daughter Tan Xin Ping, 14, was hit on the head with a bottle while her daughter was walking to school one morning.
“My daughter was walking alone towards SMK Johor Jaya 2 which is only 1km away from our house.

Lone assailant attacks people with bottles and helmet and injures 22 in Malaysia
About 22 people including school students and senior citizens were injured by a lone assailant who attacked them with bottles and a helmet.
The man who wore a helmet, even splashed vinegar and diesel before fleeing the scene in some cases. This case is not the first of its kind.
According to a report in The Star, the latest cases happened on Thursday when a 14-year-old student who was walking to her school was attacked with a bottle at 7am while another woman, in her 70s, was attacked with a helmet.
Both victims suffered injuries to their head. All the cases happened around Taman Johor Jaya and Taman Desa Cemerlang.
Johor Baru Municipal Council councillor Tan Tuan Peng said the incidents started in April and up to July 30 and based on the victim’s description, the suspect usually rides a motorcycle and surprises his victims from the back before fleeing.
“None of the victims could recognise the suspect and we believe there could be more than one person doing this,” he said yesterday.
Tan also said that so far there was no motive for the attacks as none of the victims were robbed.
