The AG’s Report: In Pahang, even the dead got welfare!

6 August 2018

The Auditor-General’s Report shows the Pahang Welfare Department was slow to stop RM49,800 from being paid out to deceased recipients.

PETALING JAYA: The Pahang state welfare department was paying monetary aid to people who were already dead, the Auditor-General’s (A-G) report said.

“We found that in between August and November last year, the department was slow to stop payments totalling RM49,800 to recipients who passed away,” the A-G said in the report.

The report also said the state welfare department had also paid a sum of RM3.94 million to applicants who were not qualified.

“We suggest to the state government to make sure they do not repeat the same mistake again,” the report said, adding that the welfare department should also stop paying out money to unqualified applicants.
