PETALING JAYA: A raid by police at a slaughterhouse in Sibu, Sarawak discovered the gruesome sight of dog meat, which was also being sold at a stall in the same location.
Police arrested a 54-year-old man after a raid, following allegations that he sold dog meat at his food stall, which is located on the ground floor of a row of wooden houses, Star reported.
Sibu Municipal Council and the state veterinary department officials joined the police in the raid on the premises located along Jalan Rambutan.
Following the raid on Tuesday, police told the daily that the man had admitted to selling dog meat for the past 30 years, but mainly to regular customers.

Man arrested for selling dog meat at Sibu food stall
SIBU: A 54-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly selling dog meat at his food stall located on the ground floor of a row of wooden houses here.
Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Saiful Bahari Abdullah said on Tuesday that the stall along Jalan Rambutan here was also a slaughterhouse.
In the raid on 2.35pm Tuesday, the man admitted to operating the business illegally and had been in operation for more than 30 years and served mainly regular customers.
The raid was conducted by a police team together with officers of the Sibu Municipal Council and State Veterinary Department.
The teams also seized two chunks of dog meat.
ACP Saiful said the man is being detained to assist investigation under Section 428 of the Penal Code for causing mischief by killing or maiming any animal.
The raid was carried out following a rabies outbreak in Serian that claimed the lives of two children in the district.
