“King of Shamans”, is being summoned by Islamic authorities to explain his conduct, but clarified that this does not necessarily mean that he is breaching Islamic medicine guidelines.
Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, the minister in charge of Islamic affairs, said investigations have to be first carried out on the individual whose actual name is Datuk Ibrahim Mat Zin, after his recent ritual that he claimed was to “fence off” Malaysia from any attacks from North Korea.
“However we are not saying that Raja Bomoh has deviated from the guidelines of Islamic medicine as claimed, but we have to investigate first.
“If the statement given does not follow the law, then it will be an offence and we will take further action,” the minister in the Prime Minister’s Department was quoted saying yesterday by local daily Utusan Malaysia.
In a separate report by local daily Sinar Harian, Perak exco member Datuk Mohd Nizar Zakaria said Ibrahim’s latest actions that had become viral had taken place in Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur, which meant those two states have jurisdiction to open investigation papers on the latter.
He said he was told the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department had already opened investigation papers to probe Ibrahim.
He said the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk) had in the past launched an investigation on Ibrahim and sent a letter to his home in Perak, but said his family members and neighbours did not know of his whereabouts and he had failed to show up for the probe. This was before a fatwa issued after a 2014 meeting, he said.
He noted that the Perak Fatwa Committee had after a September 2014 meeting issued a fatwa or edict that any bomoh rituals and ceremonies conducted by Ibrahim with or without any objects whether for medical, bomoh or other purposes was against Islamic laws and haram, orf orbidden to Muslims.
Sulaiman Nordin, the village head of Kampung Bermin in Perak where Ibrahim’s wife came from, reportedly urged him to surrender to assist in investigations by JAIPk.
“This matter cannot be left alone because it hurts the feelings of Muslims, what more when the ritual was done by a Muslim bomoh,” he was quoted saying by Sinar Harian.

‘Raja Bomoh’ has a date with police

.
MALACCA, March 19 — The self-acclaimed ‘Raja Bomoh’ who performed a beach ritual to ‘protect’ Malaysia from North Korea’s attacks will soon have a date with the police.
Real name Ibrahim Mat Zin, the so-called ‘Clairvoyant Shaman King of the World’ will give a statement pertaining to the ritual in which he had used a bamboo cannon to ‘thwart’ other foreign threats or attacks.
“Enough is enough. Do not do silly things. His actions are clearly embarrassing the Malays. I have asked him to stop and use the Quran and Sunnah as guidance.
“Is there a necessity to ‘shoot’ using a bamboo cannon? This is polytheism. It is not in our culture,” said Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
He said the police had received several reports of ritual acts being performed by the individual who hailed from Teluk Intan, Perak.
He said the investigation against Ibrahim would be conducted in accordance with Section 111 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC).

Raja Bomoh says he’s been protecting Malaysia for 70 years
…Ibrahim Mat Zin, in all seriousness, claims that he has in fact been protecting Malaysia from harm for seven decades – from even before the country’s independence.
“I don’t want money. I pray to ring-fence Malaysia,” he told The Sunday Times in an interview, claiming to have turned 86 on Thursday.
“We don’t have modern weapons like (North) Korea. If we go to war with weapons, we will lose. But we use ancient methods to fence the air, the earth and the water, so that missiles will go missing and not reach Malaysia.”
.
The best-known techniques of the Raja Bomoh Sedunia Nujum (Clairvoyant Shaman King of the World) include looking through bamboo telescopes and waving coconuts around.
He has been mocked by urbane Malaysians and criticised by Muslim scholars, who declared his methods to be haram – outlawed by Islam.
But Ibrahim insists his methods are in line with Islamic teachings. He cited the work of other Malay faith healers and medicine men over the decades, and claimed that government officials, including Malaysia’s first two prime ministers, had in fact requested his help.
He refused to disclose which officials requested his help in the MH370 mystery or in the ongoing row with North Korea over the murder of its citizen, Kim Jong-nam.
Asked about MH370, Ibrahim said: “The plane is in a parallel realm. It will be missing for 25 years before it returns, but the people may still be alive because the air is different, a month is like a day to them.”
He said this was the first time he was revealing this to anyone.
Despite outlandish claims such as these, Malay shamans like Raja Bomoh – who says he is a fifth-generation shaman – commands wide following in Malaysia.

‘Raja Bomoh’ wanted by Malaysian police, religious department
KUALA LUMPUR — Controversial shaman Ibrahim Mat Zin or “Raja Bomoh” is being sought by police and religious authorities over antics deemed damaging to Islam, said Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
The deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said a warrant has been issued for Ibrahim’s arrest and he is also wanted by the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi).
“Jawi and the police are in efforts of tracking the Bomoh since Monday to arrest and charge him for tarnishing the image of Islam,” Asyraf posted on Twitter on Saturday (March 18).
FT Mufti Zulkifli Mohamad yesterday urged Ibrahim to “repent”, after the latter again entered the spotlight for his antics purportedly to defend Malaysia against North Korea.
Ibrahim previously triggered controversy when he performed a ritual replete with coconuts and a “magic carpet” that he claimed would help locate the missing Malaysia Airline Flight MH370 in 2014.
Video of the act spread internationally and led to mockery of Malaysia.
In the latest incident, Ibrahim is shown in a video performing another such ritual outside the mortuary of Hospital Kuala Lumpur where the body of Kim Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, is being kept.

Raja Bomoh’s rituals ‘haram’, Perak says
KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 — The Perak state government has issued a fatwa declaring Ibrahim Mat Zin’s, otherwise known as Raja Bomoh, rituals as “haram”, or forbidden.
Local daily Sinar Harian quoted Perak deputy mufti Zamri Hashim as saying that action could be taken against Ibrahim if he conducted his rituals in the state.
“In fact, action can also be taken under the enactment against any Muslims or groups who become his members or followers,” Zamri was quoted saying.
“If such actions are done in other states, the authorities in those states need to take action because religion is under state jurisdiction,” he added.
The fatwa was reportedly gazetted on August 3, 2015, more than a year after Ibrahim made headlines in March 2014 when he conducted rituals to locate the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370. The plane has yet to be found.
Ibrahim conducted another ritual recently, this time to protect Malaysia from a North Korean nuclear attack amid tension between both countries.

‘Raja Bomoh’ appears at HKL, performs ritual for quick release of #KimJongNam‘s body
.

KUALA LUMPUR: “Raja Bomoh Sedunia” Ibrahim Mat Zin is at it again.
This time the Malay shaman performed a special ritual outside Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) mortuary, where the remains of Kim Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was kept.
After a ritual on a beach to ‘protect’ the country from harm, his latest act today was aimed at expediting the release of Jong-nam’s remains.
Ibrahim, clad in a suit like before, arrived at the hospital at 6.05pm.
Armed with two bamboo sticks used as binoculars, he proceeded by reciting prayers in front of the mortuary before doing the same at an area where local and foreign media gathered.
After five minutes, he left the area.
Yesterday, a three-minute 18-seconds video, featuring him and his three assistants, wading in ankle-deep water at a beach somewhere, has gone viral on social media.
