Conduct your own study, anti-Najib group tells Tajuddin

Anti-Najib student group Challenger has urged Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Tajuddin Abdul Rahman to conduct his own study to refute their survey which found students to have lost trust in the leadership of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

“If Dato’ Haji Tajuddin thinks that the survey is inadequate then he should conduct a survey on his own.

“However, should he decide to do so then the survey has to be conducted by an independent body with zero political interests,” said Challenger member Aaron Denison in a statement today.

Tajuddin: Don’t take Challenger survey findings seriously

Yeap! Don’t take Tajuddin seriously!

Tajuddin: Don’t take Challenger survey findings seriously

April 12, 2016

Deputy minister says Challenger survey of 5,000 students is too small to be representative of hundreds of thousands of others who support PM.

“5,000 students out of hundreds of thousands of students is not a good representation of how the youth actually feel about the prime minister. It is such a small number and while we can listen, we can’t take the findings seriously.

“The opinions of university students do not necessarily represent the aspirations and the goals of the majority of the rakyat. These students are intelligent but they have yet to be exposed to the real world.

“I was a student activist back in the late 1960s and, of course, in universities it’s normal for students to be vocal and critical against the establishment. When they come out, they will change as they will become more balanced and moderate.”

Survey: Najib no longer has varsity student support

April 12, 2016

5,000 students polled by Challenger youth organisation tell what it will take for Najib to win back their hearts.

ETALING JAYA: An overwhelming majority of university students no longer support the administration of Prime Minister Najib Razak, a survey conducted by youth group the Challenger reveals.

Thrice-crowned Asian top debater Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, the spokesperson for Challenger, said the poll of 5,006 Malaysian students showed that 4,586 (91.61%) had lost confidence in Najib’s administration.

“In almost every form, one of the answers listed by the respondents was to remove Najib. That definitely indicates the students’ wish (to see the country governed by a new leader),” said Syed Saddiq when contacted by FMT.

The survey, conducted on youths aged between 18 and 30 currently attending universities both in and outside Malaysia, was to gauge the level of support for Najib among university students.

Asked if they believed Najib was a leader with integrity, 4,460 (89.09%) of the respondents replied with a resounding “no”, Syed Saddiq said.

Asked what actions the government should take to recapture the hearts of Malaysian youths, 4,889 respondents, who answered this question, said it included an increase in job opportunities and wages to cope with the rising cost of living.

They also listed “combating corruption, institutional reforms, Najib’s removal, free education or scholarships, freedom of academic expression” as well as religious freedom as some of the actions that could swing their confidence back towards the Government.

Anti-Najib group survey finds 89pct of students don’t like the PM

A youth group opposed to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has found that 89 percent of the university students it surveyed are not in favour of the prime minister.

The group, Challenger, surveyed 5,006 students and found that 4,460 of them do not think Najib is a leader with integrity, while only 304 students (six percent) supported Najib, with 242 of them (4.8 percent) being not sure.

A total of 4,586 or 91.6 percent of the students surveyed also did not support the government led by Najib, with the number of those in favour even lower at just 164 (3.3 percent) in favour while 256 (5.1 percent) were not sure.

“(Those surveyed were) Malaysians, all aged between 18 and 30 years who are attending universities in and out of Malaysia.

“The survey was conducted through manual distribution in universities and an Online Google Form,” says a press statement issued by Challenger today.

The survey was conducted from March 8 to April 8.

A breakdown of the participants shows that 832 of the students who responded to the survey are from Universiti Teknologi Mara. The others are 761 from International Islamic University; 428 from Universiti Malaya; and 428 from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia.

There were also 431 respondents from Universiti Kuala Lumpur; 209 from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak; 227 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia; and 464 from polytechnics; 255 from technical colleges; 224 being foreign university students; and 569 from other universities that had less than 200 respondents each.
