Porsche driver to be investigated for reckless driving
SIBU: Sibu deputy police chief Supt Martin Koo confirmed that the driver of the black Porsche involved in an accident on Monday evening outside St John’s Anglican Church was arrested today (Nov 24).
He said the man in his 30s was apprehended as he was discharged from a medical clinic, and that the driver had suffered broken shoulder bones in the accident.
The police had recorded his statement and released him thereafter because he was still under medical care.
“The traffic police are investigating the case under Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act – reckless driving that causes death. We believe in our initial investigation that the Porsche driver had lost control behind the wheel.”
He said the driver could have consequently hit the rider, sending both motorcycle and sports car into the church perimeter wall, bringing the concrete wall down.
Koo said police was still investigating how the Porsche had come to a halt so far from the church wall and that he believed the sports car did not stop after slamming into the wall but could have rebounded.

SIBU: A family member of 50-year-old accident victim Ting Yew Kui wants the police to conduct a thorough and fair probe into the collision which claimed his life Monday evening (Nov 23).
Dudong assemblyman Yap Hoi Liong, representing the family, claimed that at about 7pm after the incident, someone approached the victim’s wife and gave her Ting’s MyKad.
“The family members are not happy as to why a third party has the victim’s MyKad in their possession,” he said, stressing the importance of preserving all exhibits belonging to the victims and that investigations be conducted transparently and in full accordance of the law.
