GEORGE TOWN: An argument over parking obstruction esclated into a brawl when a 40-year-old self-employed man and his friend were slashed and beaten up by some 10 people.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mior Farid Altrash Wahid said the man had serious injuries with a disclocated right hand, multiple slash wounds on his head and limbs while his friend, who was a witness had suffered from cuts on the back.
He said the incident happened in front of Desa Mewar food court in Lintang Kampung Melayu, Air Itam here about 6.30am today.
“The witness confided in the police that the self-employed had argued over vehicle obstruction with an unidentified man.
“The angry man left but returned to the scene shortly afterwards with some nine others armed with parang, sticks and helmets to attack,” Mior said.

Duo attacked by 10 armed men over parking dispute
GEORGE TOWN: A businessman and his friend were assaulted by a group of men after a quarrel in front of a food court in Air Itam.
The 40-year-old victim suffered a dislocated right hand and multiple lacerations to his head, neck, hands and torso when 10 people attacked him with machetes, woo-den sticks and helmets.
His 30-year-old friend sustained scratches on his back and received outpatient treatment at a hospital.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said a woman called the police around 7am yesterday after finding the businessman lying in a pool of blood at Lintang Kampung Melayu.
“The unconscious victim was sent to Penang Hospital. The doctors said his condition was stable but he lost a huge amount of blood.
Interviewed by the police, he said the friend recounted a dispute between the victim and a few men. The men’s car had blocked the victim’s at the food court’s car park.
“We were told that a few minutes after the dispute, about 10 people came into the food court with machetes and attacked the victim and his friend,” he said.
