A video purportedly showing a deep fried rat that was served at popular fried chicken chain KFC in the US has got netizens in a tizzy.

The clip, filmed by a man named Devorise Dixon from California, does not contain audio, and was uploaded on Facebook on June 15. It has since been shared more than 8,000 times.

Mr Dixon also posted a photo of the piece of meat on his Instagram with the caption, “I went to KFC yesterday and bought a 3piece(sic) chicken tender. As I bit into it I noticed that I(sic) was very hard and rubbery which made me look at it. I noticed it had a very long tail and was shaped like an(sic) rat! It sent deep chills throughout my whole body I’m still feeling sick cant even eat!!! Please watch what you eat cold world! I bought this from KFC in Compton, CA on Wilmington and 120th.”

To the viewer of the video, the shape of the meat indeed closely resembles a rodent, complete with a tail.

However, in the Instagram photo, the white meat of what appears to be chicken could be seen beneath the batter coating.
