Guan Eng faces three-cornered fight in Bagan
BUTTERWORTH (April 20, 2013): DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, who is defending his Bagan parliamentary seat, will face a three-cornered fight in the constituency against candidates from the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM).
BN’s Chua Teik Siang and PCM’s Lim Kim Chu are first-time candidates in a general election. Bagan, with 59,385 voters, has always been an opposition stronghold but it has now leaned towards BN as the likeable Chua has frequently “turun padang” (gone to the ground) to meet the people.

Nurul Izzah faces BN, independent in fight for Lembah Pantai
KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 — An independent has entered the contest for Lembah Pantai in Election 2013, making it a three-way fight with incumbent PKR’s Nurul Izzah Anwar and Barisan Nasional’s (BN) Raja Datuk Nong Chik Zainal Abidin.
Nurul Izzah, Raja Nong Chik and Rusli Baba filed their nomination papers this morning as hundreds of PKR and BN supporters cheered for their candidates respectively, waving party flags at opposite ends of Jalan Bangkung in Bangsar here.
Nurul Izzah, 32, said the 13th general election would be “challenging”, noting that there were almost 5,000 dubious voters who did not live in Lembah Pantai, as well as 2,200 policemen voters, up from 150 in Election 2008.
“I hope for a fair electoral process. Our hope lies in polling agents and observers,” Nurul Izzah told reporters at the Lembah Pantai nomination centre here.
The PKR vice-president, who is the oldest daughter of Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, added that she would be facing political patronage, money politics and a flawed electoral roll in Election 2013.
Raja Nong Chik, however, said he has been working hard in Lembah Pantai since 2009 as the federal territories and urban well-being minister.
“I hope that I will be able to continue the work that I have been doing,” the 60-year-old Lembah Pantai Umno chief told reporters at the nomination centre.
Independent candidate Rusli, who is in his fifties, said he was a former Umno member who was born in Bangsar.
“My hope is based on my friends and family in Bangsar,” he said.
