Breaking! A 10-year old boy has sued Ong Ye Kung!

We have been updated by the legal representative (mother) of the 9 year old boy (Claimant) on the false statement lawsuit on Mr One Ye Kung. She just had her first Court Hearing with regards to her “false statement” lawsuit on Mr Ong Ye Kung.
Basically good news, the Court determines that the proceeding can go on, and she has to serve notice on Mr Ong Ye Kung.
The main points are as follows;
1) There is a gag order issued not to reveal the identity of the Claimant (about 1230pm on 31 Dec 2021), as the Claimant is a 9 year old child, this is to protect all children who is part of a court proceeding in all Courts.
This must be complied by all parties, including all parties on this group and beyond. Anyone who knows the identity of the child is bound by the gag order hereafter. You are not allowed to publicise further that would reveal the child’s identity. Failing which, anyone may be subject to contempt proceedings.
2) There is a question on whether Mr Ong Ye Kung can be taken to Court for he has immunity as a Member of Parliament and Minister of Health. The points raised to Court were Mr Ong Ye Kung was making the alleged false statement in his facebook page. Since his facebook page is not an official communication channel of the government and his own personal page, Mr Ong Ye Kung stated all the alleged false statements as a normal citizen, and he is to be brought to Court just like any other normal respondent / citizen and does not have any parliamentary immunity.
The Court agrees to that view.
3) The claimant’s legal representative (mother) has been instructed by the Court to serve notice on him.
Updates as they come – we can give updates, we just cannot reveal the identity of the child.

A 9-year-old boy has taken Health Minister Ong Ye Kung to court, for allegedly making false statements and harassment.
The boy (plaintiff), who cannot be named due to a court gag order, is represented by his mother in the States Court.
The lawsuit arises from a post (screenshot below) which Mr Ong made on 16th December 2021 on his personal Facebook page, with regards to the vaccination of children.
The plaintiff took issues with the above 2 highlighted statements made by Mr Ong, as they are, in his opinion false and not a statement of fact.
During the first Court hearing, there was a question on whether Mr Ong Ye Kung can be taken to Court for he has immunity as a Member of Parliament and Minister of Health.
The plaintiff argued that Mr Ong had made the statements on his own personal Facebook page, which is not an official communication channel of the government, and as such he has made all the allegedly false statements as a normal citizen, therefore, he can be brought to court and immunity, in this case, does not apply.
The Court has agreed to that view and has instructed the plaintiff to serve notice on Mr Ong.

On a related note, we would like to inform our readers that the Class Action Suit against the MTF, MOM and MOH has been scheduled on 12 January 2022 at 9.30 am for a pre-trial conference.
