Covid-19: After Xmas raid, eatery caught again on New Year’s Eve

IPOH: A total of 311 New Year revellers at a restaurant in Jalan Sultan Yusuff here were issued compound notices for RM1,000 each for violating the standard operating procedures of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) on Friday (Dec 31).

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said police raided the premises at 10.30pm Friday and said under the SOPs, it could only accommodate 100 people.

“The premises were packed with customers sitting close together without any physical distancing,” Comm Mior Faridalathrash told Malay daily Sinar Harian on Saturday (Jan 1).

He said compounds totalling RM300,000 were issued on 177 men and 99 women, including 35 underage individuals who were at the premises.

The premises had previously been raided by the police for operating beyond the time set by the National Security Council, he added.
