Duo have had fractious relationship since Muar MP won seat in GE14

KUALA LUMPUR – Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has done little to hide his distaste for Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman in the past, but his latest post on Instagram takes the cake.

In a brief caption posted on his account late last night, Tunku Ismail suggested that the only way the Muda leader would get his attention is if he jumped off the Petronas Twin Towers without a parachute.

He was responding to a question from one of his followers on what Syed Saddiq has to do to capture his attention.

“Go jump off KLCC without a parachute,” his reply read.

The question posed to him was one of dozens that Tunku Ismail responded to on Instagram, after he conducted a question-and-answer session on his account last night.

The Vibes has reached out to Syed Saddiq for comments, but has yet to receive a response.

Tunku Ismail’s remark did not go unnoticed, with Malaysians calling him out on social media, saying it was insensitive and questioning his loathing of Syed Saddiq.

Some challenged Tunku Ismail to enter the political arena and have the courage to compete against Syed Saddiq in elections.

Others pointed out that, even without jumping off KLCC, Syed Saddiq has already got the attention of the Johor crown prince, saying Muar MP is “living rent free” in the latter’s head.

There are also those who said the comment was unfair as if anyone else were to make such remarks against the royalty, they would face repercussions.

Tunku Ismail and Syed Saddiq have not had a cordial relationship since the latter won his Muar seat in the 2018 general election.

Everyone knows that cyberbullying is wrong, and that implying someone to commit suicide through cyberbullying is worse.

But what happens when the person doing the cyberbullying is a prince?

Khairi hear the people sing (@khairizulfadhli) took to his Twitter account to showcase an Instagram Story by His Royal Highness Major General Tunku Ismail ibni Sultan Ibrahim, The Crown Prince of Johor, where he implied that Muar MP, Syed Saddiq, should jump from KLCC without a parachute if he were to ever want His Royal Highness’s attention.

In what appears to be a Q&A session with his followers, one netizen asked the prince, “What does Syed Saddiq need to do to get your attention?”

The prince then responds with, “Jump off from KLCC without wearing a parachute.”

Khairi reposted the screenshot that revealed it all on his Twitter and called out the prince in a tweet,

“The son of a King can ask a parliament member to jump from KLCC without a parachute. If we told the son of a King to jump from KLCC without a parachute, what would happen to us? A just King is worshipped, Tunku. If you dare, enter politics. Talking like this, it’s called cowardice.”

Khairi went on to explain to His Royal Highness how he can join and start participating in politics.

“Leave the palace, join the MUDA party, tell ROS to approve it and then challenge Syed Saddiq for the Presidency, Tunku has a lot of support, right?”

“What’s so great if it’s just about wanting to ‘tapau’ Syed Saddiq? That is if Tunku dares. If not, just stay an Instagram parliament member,” he added.

While it is understandable that the world of politics can be a sticky place, it just feels wrong that His Royal Highness can say such terrible things without repercussions.

And it seems as though many netizens agree with Khairi’s sentiment as they’ve taken to the comments to share their belief that His Royal Highness has taken things too far. Many said that if the tables were turned, and if it was His Royal Highness that was on the receiving end of such remarks, there would be hell to pay.

And while His Royal Highness has implied that Syed Saddiq would have to go to such an extent as to commit suicide in order to get his attention, many believe otherwise based on His Royal Highness’s need to answer the question in the first place.

Like the IKRAM Merdeka clip, this has also been misunderstood. Syed has other options like a wingsuit, a James Bond jetpack or This will make the general green with envy without inviting sedition. Checkmate.
