Six limestone blocks at risk of falling near Tambun resort, says Perak MB
IPOH: There are six hanging blocks of limestone that are at risk of falling near the resort hotel in Tambun, where two people were killed during a landslide on Tuesday (Nov 10).
Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the blocks measured between 5m and 10m and there were still risks and possibilities that these could fall.
“But because it is a geological phenomena, thereโs no telling when, as it is unpredictable.”

Two people were killed when a landslide crashed down on the villa they were in at the hotel on Tuesday.
Faizal had also visited the incident site earlier in the day.
Faizal said he has been briefed by the state Geoscience and Minerals Department and the Fire and Rescue Department on the safety measures taken in the area.

“The recent amount of rainfall has been out-of-the-ordinary and it is worrisome,” he said, adding that heavy rainfall, since Nov 8, had caused the structure of the limestone near the villa to be unstable.
Faizal also said there were no issues with the buffer zone between the hotel and the limestone hill.
He said the development of the hotel, which was approved about 20 years ago, had adhered to all conditions set by the relevant authorities.
“It is an unfortunate incident that was unavoidable,” he said.
