..
Christmas has been spent in different countries, namely Malaysia, Singapore and New Zealand.
It has been spent alone mainly when I was a student but whenever possible, with others at church, which is almost every Christmas.
In the past ten years, Christmas has been spent with family, my own family. With Father and Mother gone (yes, I’m an orphan), and siblings all over the world, I spend Christmas as much as possible with as many of my own sons, their wives, and our two grandchildren as are available. There will be three grandchildren come Christmas 2019.
Meals have differed.
Activities have varied.
Gifts have been given and received. I have got books. Invariably. My sons know their dad’s love for reading.
Talking of sons, I have only one word to describe them. GREAT.
Daughters-in-law? Wonderful.
Grandchildren? Miraculous.
Every Christmas, there is ONE CONSTANT. The reason for Christmas. Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ came to die. Babies are born with their parents wishing a long, healthy and meaningful life for them.
The Father gave the Son to the world to DIE on the cross.
As I celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus, I never forget the death He will face as an adult.
And because He lived after the Crucifixion…because He LIVES, I shall also live.
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone.
Because I know
He holds the future
Life is worth living
Because He lives.
Amen.
