PETALING JAYA: Social media users have slammed former Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan for posting an old video of an Indian man verbally abusing the police and questioned his motive for doing so.

Tweeter account holder Huzaifi urged Musa to look forward and fix whatever was broken in society.

“This is seditious. We live in harmony. We are not instigators, we live in peace,” he told Musa.

Another tweet by user Adil urged Musa not to fan racial tension. “There is no need to play up old videos.”

The video titled “Indian driver fights with the police” was posted on YouTube on Nov 3, 2011.

Another social media user Vivek proposed to the authorities to use Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) on Musa. The suggestion was supported by many other social media users.

Another Twitter user Abdul Razak Bin Azmi also questioned Musa’s intentions for posting the old video.

Responding to the tweets, Musa said: “Whether old or new, citizens do not respect enforcement officers. Police have a way of handling the situation. Perhaps because of human rights, police are not brave enough to use their power.”

Musa also wrote that it was crucial to look back on such incidents to ensure they would not happen again.

“We need to know history,” he said, adding that people should know the truth so that they would be aware of such incidents.

Musa, who was the IGP from September 2006 to March 2010, said officers on duty should get justice.

It is believed his tweets were in relation to the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.

Adib died of injuries sustained in the violence that erupted at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple last month.
