PM’s Dept Protection Division officer held for pointing pistol at cinema worker
PETALING JAYA: An officer attached to the Protection Division (UPS) of the Prime Minister’s Department was arrested for flashing an object resembling a pistol at an usher of a cinema in a shopping complex in Damansara Utama here, recently.
In the 2.50pm incident on Tuesday, the 48-year-old man claimed that he was the “top gangster” for the area and displayed the pistol after his friend was stopped from entering the cinema before the show time.
The incident was triggered after the suspect’s friend had wanted to sneak into the cinema hall before the show time but was stopped by the 19-year-old usher.
“Once the man was stopped from entering the cinema hall, a couple approached the usher and an argument ensued. The usher was suddenly punched on his face. The cinema’s manager was alerted subsequently and she stopped the commotion.
“Then, another man (suspect) who claimed that he is a top gangster in the area arrived and pointed a pistol at the cinema workers and customers,” a source told theSun today.
Following the incident, a police report was lodged by the usher of the cinema and statements were recorded from the victim.
Police detained the suspect on Wednesday at 4.15am in Damansara Utama and seized a Glock-type pistol and a magazine containing seven bullets.
Also confiscated was a vehicle, a card holder which was labelled as the Malaysian-Anti Corruption Commission (MACC), an MACC badge, an MACC authority card with Deputy Enforcer rank and a bag with a pistol magazine which contained 13 bullets.
Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted that he was a deputy enforcer in Kuala Lumpur MACC and is currently seconded to the Protection Division of the Prime Minister’s Department.
However, the suspect denied that he displayed a pistol during the incident.
